If you head my way, lemme know. Gotta hide the women and children.

That’s gonna be one radical looking machine!

I was hoping to get this, in 1 shot but no cigar. I’ll have to make the drip rail section separate. Which I’m ok with, it’s a learning process, trying to take my time, listen, watch and learn the metal. I was a little over whelmed after I cut this section out due to the radius in every direction but I’m happy with how it came out.

Messing around with a little push bar. I didn’t spend much time on it because I had mixed feelings.. if I decide to keep it the connecting tube needs coped and the push bar needs capped, just a light tack to see what it looks like. I used some 1.5 od tubing to match the back connecting brace on the frame. It was just some scrap I had it actually has a slight radius to it too, which I kinda like.. still unsure tho, I think the 1.5” might be too big. What do u guys think? 7E55B789-F808-4773-B232-85E2C3AA8F83.jpeg B145D92A-D3F4-4777-9C2E-2CBB3BF7DBBE.jpeg

Even if it is never used it needs to be functional to look right. Great project! Sub'd

DDDC5FE7-E261-4C36-AFB7-53BCC9B0AF0C.jpeg I’ve been busting my ass, Got most of the metal work finished up on the passenger side so I had to roll it out side for a shot! Still not sure if I like the push bar or not… also scored a ton of good parts! I’m gonna make garnish moldings out of the sedans molding I got. Also got a 34 dash that’s been cut with this cool insert. Anybody ever seen a insert like this with the hearts as blinker indicators?

I’m not feeling the look of the push bar. Great work on the car!

Dump the rear push bar, use individual "nerf" bars.

It's a Hotrod that looks like it does Lakes duty...You'll use it when there's higher gears...I'm working on an inspiration...the keep it simple principle hugely plays into this... but at a minimum it needs to be functional and the beef is workable...it's got a tough job...your nailing it @angelbaby65

...if you click on the thumbnail you can clic the image and cycle it to visualize the pushbar changes I made...basically put an arc in the crosspipe and cap the pusher and fit and gusset it... the aft arc would strengthen the crossbar I'm thinking and work with the curve of the pan area...again I like it...just me...;)

  16. I can’t help you with the insert, but the overall look sure is sweetheart. With the dramatic overall look, your rear spreader can be simple/clean. In my world maybe a tapered oval, but as I always say , I wasn’t alive back then, so I didn’t live it. Keep on keepin on.

That’s a great idea, u like the idea of the radius on the spreader! I mocked up a piece of 1.25 stainless and I think that it’s much better in proportion for size than the 1.5…

Started cleaning up the 34 door latches, soaked them in on overnight and the work beautifully. The bear claw latches that were in it looked like they were welded with scrap metal installed in the car so they were … a Bear To get out after a little persuasion they came out and I started to get the new ones in. Also started cutting the driver side for repair..

I think a curved spreader bar the Push bar attaches to looks good...straight across as well was probably more popular due to that kiss. principal, but pipe bending and rolling was closely associated with racing...I was thinking a bowed back crossbar would have more bend resistance...Stainless is good and your eye knows what talks and heck there was probably guidelines depending on year...;)

If you use that push bar you need to run it to the rear crossmember or it will fold up like a wet noodle.

What’s your guys thoughts on these bat wings? I know it’s hard to run split bones with a 5” drop axle but these bat wings do not look strong to me, am I being too worried? What’s your guys experience ? I’ve only had split bones on previous cars and I know they hold up.. I do drive my cars hard, I plan for the 33 to see dirt and gravel roads along with the street.

Started another thread on the wishbones and got my answers… think I’ll keep ‘em… little progress tonight I started fixing the roof on the driver side and once almost done I just wasn’t happy with the section right behind the driver door as it was mangled, and didn’t have the correct flow so i cut it out and made a patch, I’ll get it welded in tomorrow. Also got interior and exterior door handles properly working.
