    Hey guys,
I’ve done a small bit of research on the 8TR 337 Big Flattie.
I understand it’s very heavy 850lbs and hop up parts are not to had.
But it puts out decent power est 150 hp
Anyone running one of these beasts. I’m trying to decide
Weather I want to mess with it , or go with the smaller more common ones..
    Thanks
    Robert H

Personally, I'd leave those for the big truck restorers who have to have one and call it good and run a more common flathead. About all you gain running one as apposed to an 8BA family flathead is a few Bubba points in some circles. What you loose is just what you mentioned, few speed trinkets and possibly far harder to find internal parts in some respects.

You ever see the size of the radiators what came with those engines?

    The reason I’m asking is there’s a 51 shoebox
With one in it being parted out by a neighbor.

  6. Got any pics? I would love to see how they shoehorned one of those into a shoebox.

Are you sure the one in the shoebox isn't an 8RT which is just the pickup version of the 8BA?

  8. I was in a partnership in a '49 Lincoln as a kid. Later my partner pulled the 337 out of the Lincoln and put it in a '39 Ford. It can be done. The old Linc ran pretty good for a tuna boat.

Go for it. Do something a bit different that takes some imagination.

You can do it if you have this kind of time, money, and skills. For an ordinary build, not a good idea.

Ok sorry guys, I guess I’m a bit dislectic
    It’s a 8RT not 8TR. Big difference I know.

Being somewhat dyslexic with numbers myself I kinda wondered if that was the case. Personally, I prefer the 8rt/8ba to the Lincoln engine anyway.
