Figure i would share with you guys my newest acquisition. A car i dreamed of owning since i was a kid, but never thought would happen. I became friends with the owner several years ago through social media. Ive bought several things from him for projects over the years. And always in the corner of his shop sat this little old deuce coupe. It was fenderless and in primer the first time i laid eyes on her. But never was for sale. Fast forward about 5 years and i went by his shop to pick up some parts. The car was painted and back together at this time. Again i asked if it was for sale, this time i got a maybe. We talked back and forth on the phone. And then right before christmas the deal was struck. I dont think i got much sleep in that time. Excited to get it back home i started changing a few things to make her mine. It had 15” steel wheels and radial tires on it with portawalls. Not really my style. I had a set of 1940 ford wheels, 16x4 and 16x5 laying around the shop. Had them powdercoated gloss black and mounted up to some brand new firestones 5.50’s up front and 7.50’s out back. Finished it up with some of 1947 ford hubcaps. Much better look for the car imho. Ive been driving it a good bit lately. Working some bugs out, but having tons of fun with it. Still a few things i want to do to it as some of the bodywork and paint need attention. Future plans for it include ditching the discs up front and the sbc drivetrain. and putting a flathead and t5 in. Ill keep you guys posted on changes i make in the future
Awesome, great looking car! Stoked for you and the improvements so far look great! Its funny how we all look at our cars differently. If it was me I'd be initially keeping the SBC and discs and getting it a haircut, but then its not my car and your plans sound good too
Thanks! The haircut thing is definitely something ive considered! But being a diehard early ford guy, the sbc definitely has to go at some point
Congrats! That’s a beautiful car. I always like these stories it gives me hope that maybe I’ll get my dream car some day. Looking forward to seeing your changes.
Love it, kudos to you and the previous owner! The color combo is spot on, how about maroon pinstripe on the wheels and a black beltline pinstripe? WoW
Very nice man! beautiful. Now I know that there are at least two 32 3 windows in the State of Louisiana. May be others? And less than a hundred miles apart! Of course mine is just a pile of parts. Congratulations Sir. That coupe will look good parked next to your roadster.
I was thinking Man I really like that except for the SBC, then as I continued reading I saw your desire to put a flathead in it! Perfection coming! Dave
Congratulations on your perseverance and a great score. The way it is now, I wouldn’t change a thing until you’ve driven it so much that the brakes and drivetrain are worn out, then swap in your preferences. It looks like a solid driver and for power and reliability there ain’t nothing wrong with a dual quad Chevy with ram horns.
That's pretty much perfection as it is, but binning the discs for drums, and putting a flatty and a T5 in it, and it really will be about perfect. I'd not give it a hair cut either, but that's just me. Congrats on finally attaining the dream.
