This is the guy who last had possession of the James Dean car and this is the check that he wrote for the rental from the Florida auto show. Leroy Gonzales is the guy who had it before it disappeared.

If it is like other catalogs I've seen, the catalog fulfillment house would make a cover to your specs and wrap it around a generic catalog. You would send it to your retailers in hopes that it would encourage orders. There would be an order blank/point list included that indicated how many units they had to buy to get any particular item. The fulfillment house would drop ship whatever your retailer selected. The XK150 dates it to circa 1958-62. Given the relatively small size of Barris' product list and the niche nature of his product line, I doubt the promotion was a success.

  8. Thanks, that's the best explanation I've heard so far, makes a lot of sense. I don't believe it was much of a success either or more people would have heard of it.

Here’s some welding work and a few projects I built from scratch! I been doing some spiral staircases which are pretty hard to make work. 31C2450E-8268-4552-A5A8-C4C8BAB5D939.jpeg 58E2DFC3-E209-4306-8DA1-A37182C41420.jpeg 42461D0A-9BE5-4584-88CA-EBF8EACBC3A1.jpeg D3821F29-653F-4BE2-B7A1-254D1C55C9AE.jpeg AF533995-B332-4751-9AD0-9BC527BCAE14.jpeg D2B0D0D5-0569-47C1-B9FC-4CC521EC5934.jpeg 0D1A412E-5641-41ED-8A60-F4A134AE3243.jpeg 9B0F08E4-D08C-4731-9C88-1F2D41F64702.jpeg 4E1C06F3-8E50-4D9A-8042-BD964B54BD88.jpeg C8772D36-BF9A-4F5D-9E38-C6266F4A16FE.jpeg

I’m gonna take a box of stuff with me on the road. I will dig into it and post some more photos related to the history.
I don’t have any info on the traditional aspect of 32 ford commercial shells.

WOW!!!!! Goes to show you how much the Barris family thought to preserve their history with memorabilia they collected over the years. Who keeps all those stubs and letters? Glad you did.
