I have a 1951 Oldsmobile that has the chrome horn ring on the steering wheel.
I'm not sure how to get it off so I can remove the steering wheel.
    Any suggestions?

  5. Usually, most steering wheel rings have a press and turn plastic attachment with 3 equally spaced ears, take your battery loose before you start trying to remove the horn ring. HRP

But that takes all the fun out of it. Arcing out the horn contact, and watching the little spring glow incandescent. Then poof! and the magic smoke comes out.

I don't know how many steering wheels I've removed. I'm old enough to know better. But I still end up having to buy a new horn contact at least once a year.

    Cheers,

So much fun when a film of crud develops between e center and the housing. Add in rust on the 3 prongs and you have a good ol' fashion cuss fest
