sorry I missed the C&C in Rincon Valley today. Will that become a new alternative to Novato?

I don't know if they'll make the cars & coffee a regular thing or not. It was just a seat of the pants decision to do it this morning. I'll let you know if we do it again.

Thanks, Joey. I was looking to do something different than the piecrust Firestones. These were less expensive as well (including shipping from the UK!)

They are from RSHRP in the UK. They are not cheap, but I'd probably be in this much to get a custom upholstered seat anyway.

Thanks! They're also from the UK. I really like 'em.

Awesome roadster! I'm hoping to do a similar build in the future. I love the new tires and the style of the car is perfect, very nice!

Thanks! I was always thinking to keep the banger and soup it up, but then realized that it would never perform great. Since this will be the daily driver for the wife, it needed the upgrade. And who could pass up a Merc???

Thanks, Big Mike. I'm excited about the Merc. I know this will create a lot more work to get it in and going, but I think it will be worth it in the end. Haven't decided if I want to use the Merc 3 speed OD transmission, or if I find myself a T5.

Any thoughts on windshield rake? I’m thinking this looks about perfect but would like to know if there are disadvantages.

    Windshield looks great!
Disadvantage...doesn’t look like an antique car now. :)

That looks about right, If you go to far back the lower center will bottom out and the corners
    will stick out....

Make sure you put your seat in and test to see if the top tube of the windshield is not directly in your scope of normal front vision. That is really annoying.

thanls for that. I checked it closely before I tacked it in place after I read your comment.

I did I planned to chop it 3”, but decided to wait until I get my seat in so I can see where my eye level ends up. Thanks for pointing it out

min thinking about re-curving the bottom of the windshield frame to fit better when I chop it. Should be interesting. also scored a 50’s 4” drop axle and front spring pack thanks to my uncle who has a friend. More to come!!!

I received my dropped axle and spring today. This one was dropped by Mor Drop in Oakland a long time ago. 4” drop, no stretch. Looks super straight. I could use some help identifying the spring. It looks newish to me. Reverse eyed, about 31” between mounts, 7 leaves. Posies? 2FEBFBF4-33C5-4604-BE5D-1717BF4B6FA8.jpeg E3A4F0F8-2088-444C-9265-7C9AFAF84213.jpeg

Looks similar to a posies spring. Although my posies doesn’t have chamfers on the end of each leaf… maybe it had been modified?

not sure if it other companies make springs with the little polymer discs like posies, but I love mine.

car looks great but could definitely use that dropped axle!

I second the vote: it looks like a Posie's spring. I have Posie's springs on both ends of my Model A coupe and on the front end of my Model A pickup, and they have the reversed eyes and those distinctive little button-shaped dimples to locate the delrin antifriction discs. I modified my spring ends by rounding them and chamfering 'em so that accounts for the softened corners on the ends of your spring.

Picked up a ‘40 chassis in Benicia today. More parts for the roadster. Got to finish another project and then I can start tearing into the car. Still need the steering tube and tree shifter. CC79F870-F541-43A8-94E0-916E1CF3AB4B.jpeg 33E5104F-3FD8-4BFB-AA55-A4B995AEAAE6.jpeg

Yup. Renamed the thread. I think it's appropriate since the car came from Flathead Lake in MT. So it's now the Flathead Flathead.

Started tear down today. Took the front end off the ‘40 and the front off the ‘29. Hoping to have it done by spring next year.
