Not surprising really, life of Hotrod/Custom for the masses didn't stop at 1965...thankfully there's lots for those that like wrapping eyes around the older Culture that keeps on giving...great Job Hoodlums carrying that torch of vintage greatness from the Yesteryear...
I looked up the winner. Definitely cool that anyone could be into cars. I don't personally dig the car, being a guy from here, lol. Obviously beautifully done tho, incredible work. Looking thru the last few winners, none would fit in here due to the wheels alone. And I personally hate modern giant wheels with low pro tires on an old car. I can dig that other guys like the look tho, that's fine. It's not that we think EVERYONE should do their cars pre 65, it's just the style we like, and ya gotta draw a line somewhere.... Half of the allure of being into old stuff is you're in a smaller club imo. So I'd wear it as a badge of honor our cars won't win such an award. My dad always said sometimes a kid that gets straight A's is good at being average, being a follower. And I think you see that in modern car builds. Conforming non-confomirty if you will.... Although I suppose you could say the same about us! Lmao.
That car is a Hilton build, owned by Shane Sonneveldt. Paint was done by Russ Montelbano of Rob Ida Concepts/North Jersey Kustoms, engine of course done by Tony Lombardi of Ross Racing. Here is a small article on it. https://fuelcurve.com/shane-sonnevelts-angry-a/
You know what was cool about the Hirohata Merc display? There was not one sign, no show board, nothing. It just sat there looking beautiful. Like saying, If you don't know who I am, buzz off.
Ugh...I'll take the basement all day long...I'm just one who walks by the new...just me...I'd rather see a rusty hulk in the woods... I always say the Hamb fills a void that barely exists around my parts...I guess I have a narrow focus from about 1905 to 1965......till death do I part...I found my niche...
I don't have any specific info but it was in NSRA Street Scene a month or so ago. I might still have the issue. What sort of info are you looking for?
I have friends that are members, I'll see if I can find the issue.. Thank you for the help. Sorry I hijacked your thread...
Thanks to Brian and everyone for the coverage of this great event. Excellent job, fantastic cars and trucks.
