These are what I down loaded from Hurst’s site a few years ago.

  3. I bought that Autostick you made mention of, Elcohaulic. Will be using it on a 727 that it was designed for. Stay tuned...

I’d much rather see one of these on the floor than the POS that are offered today. To me the new ones look cheesey and never seem to be solid.

  6. Just received my Autostick this evening. Best Hurst I've bought yet. That's saying something. I wish things were still made to this level of quality. Once I get my 727, I'll post pictures of my shifter on it.

  7. In search of a shift knob for mine. Anyone?

Repro shift knobs are available on Ebay in both white or black. I bought mine there; very nice.

Ebay is where I bought mine also, but I had to search Hurst Dual Gate to find it.

Bought one from Von Hartmann several years ago then while going through stuff the other day I found an original with the inserted pattern that I did not even know I had.

Mine is pretty rough almost all numbers faded away now after all she was made in 1968!
I see you can have them made in any type of ball out of wood aluminum plastic and T-Handle as well from a Company on the bay.
But I like my original Black Ball Shifter knob and it's used to me so I guess we are stuck with each other lol...

  16. Why do I have a feeling that at some point somebody’s gonna think this thread is shifty.

  17. I made mine from a MII shifter. Filed notches in the detent bracket to match the Hydro sequence then converted the stick to look like a stick shift, got rid of the hokey T-handle. Now to change gears I lift up on the knob, shift and let the handle drop into the detent.

If a shift knob could talk, the storys they could tell, I honestly would rather have a battle scarred shift knob than a shiny new one.
My history with Hurst shifters goes back to when I swapped the three speed column shifter for a (used) Hurst Syncro-Loc in my first car, a 61 Impala at 15 years old in 1969.
Like ones first love, a first car really holds a place in ones heart!

    Hello all,
Been awhile since I've been here.
I'm still playing around with the idea of converting my 4 speed over to an automatic on the floor.
I was finally able to find a Hurst auto/ stick 1 shifter at the Spring Carlisle swap meet this year, got the shifter with Bracket for a turbo 400 and the shift bracket that goes on the transmission but was unable to find the shift rod to go with it, so I am still in need of the shift rod part number 7551 if anyone can Point me to where to find one.
Great site to surf with a lot of info for gear heads.

  20. @willys36 , like the modifications you did to the old Ford shifter. I saw that somewhere else, tech article in a rod magazine? Did you do the article?

Since my coupe has a 700R4 I couldn't use a Hurst Auto/Stick, so built my own using an old Hurst shifter.

Anyone have any pics or install instructions on the Autostick installed on a C4? I’m looking to install one but I have no reference pics of the Ford brackets, just Chevy. Thank you.

No, I built it all from scratch. Under the floor is a spring loaded gate I cut from thin steel sheet to stop the shifter in each gear, and keep me from hitting neutral accidentally. It works great and cost me nothing more than a $20 used Hurst shifter, a couple 3/8" heim joints, and a piece of 3/8" rod I bent and threaded the ends to screw the heim on each end.

Anyone have any brackets for a C4 they’d be willing to part with? I have a shifter but no mount for my C4. Thank you.
