I'm searching for more photos of this chopped 56 that was posted in a Facebook group I run for custom effies. The only info I got was this but I'm not finding any other pictures online. "Croyden Thompson from Otahuhu, in Auckland, New Zealand, photo probably taken around 1970, owner/operator of Thompson Performance, made aluminum mag wheels and other stuff......." Anyone have more pictures of the truck?
"Yep, he was at Riverhead Grasstrack with McConnachie bros, Ron Kendal, Rob Watkins etc. 1970? Metallic Purple F100 Ford. He had it at the drags at Kerrs Rd, at that time, dropped a patch on start line and did in the driveshaft. Also he made Thompson Mags, fitted Chev V8s into MK1V Zephyrs, a real hot rodder. Had a rail dragster- Pure Heaven, caused so much grief we all called it Pure Hell. It seems all his cars were that same metallic purple." http://www.theroaringseason.com/showthread.php?1865-The-Custaxie-Life-After-Racing
I didn't know there was enough interest left in the 53-56 F100's to get a bunch together anymore. Are you just on Facebook?
Few and far between, not like the 70's-80's with all the truck clubs and Henerys Haulers shows but my wife and I daily drive my chopped 56 big window. The group is mostly a place for me to dump photos I find and look for history on local custom trucks. https://www.facebook.com/groups/674715800392570/?ref=share
Sorry I don't do Facebook (It's an Age thing) I did this in the 70's. Don't have it anymore but still have the sectioned and channeled Pannel. Keep thinking I'll get paint on this some day but probably not going to happen in this life.
Dragged this '53 (6cyl) F-100 home in the '80s. Found a 390 4spd out of a wrecked Mustang GT, and the weight of that engine really helped get a "California rake"
