I'd like to know more about the Jim Ewing 3 window. I recall one of the builders complaining about it running hot because of the tiny slit in the nose not allowing enough air into the radiator. I'd like to know the solution to its overheating. It had "the look".

When I was a kid...these were the hot rods in my world...This car from the mid 1960's...ran by Don MacTavish...1937 Chevy sheetmetal...fuel injection...low to the ground...stupid fast car...
This man could drive...the team at the L & R speedshop made him a household name too...

 

Yes, several different engines that all had over heating issues. He eventually installed a Buick V6 in it. I have the same engine in my '34 coupe. I have a 392 Hemi that I was going to install but am looking at a '31 Model A coupe now so may use the Hemi in that and keep the Buick in my '34 and then build it similar to the Superbell coupe.

The Matranga coupe is one of my all time favorites. So it's neat seeing 39-40 Mercury coupes, done in the same style, today. The bumper guard taillights, are so cool.

One of my all time favorite shoebox fords- I have a tribute build going, the car is rough but it’s a blast to drive. I started with a Victoria and a rusty convertible parts car… unlike Rogers I plan to run the folding top and I’m going to run the dual exhaust through the Chrysler bar in the back. I’m running 16” wheels too they fill out the wheel wells better.

the El Matador would be the most Bitchen kustom to beat around in- surprised there haven’t been more attempts at building tributes of that car it’s killer.

 

Many thanks to HIGHLANDER for the information on later revisions to Macaulay's Brown Bomber. It appears that the pictures I posted had the second version of the rear fenders; I think both the first version and the second are attractive. The later revisions with the pontoon front fenders, smaller headlights, and skirts were not improvements at all. I guess it's tempting to update a design with more modern details, but the result is not always a good idea.

I hope I'm not committing the same sin with my current revisions to 50Fraud!

Both Ivo's injected T and Starbird's Big-T for Monogram. They just look right to me, low and they don't have the hiked up butt many buckets have. I think they both still exist, but I'd consider doing a clone if I could.

This is one hot rod we would all like to see again. The story has been mentioned here on the HAMB as to the possibility of it being resurrected to its former glory. The chopped Ford Model A Sedan Delivery was owned by the late, Lee Bright from the San Diego Prowlers.

But, after an accident with the chopped Sedan Delivery, he built another Sedan Delivery, but this time, it was a cool yellow 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery that my wife wanted to buy on the spot.

But, the original chopped Model A Sedan Delivery is the one we would like to see again, as it was in its prime. The rumor mill has the reconstructed, Model A Sedan Delivery up in the S.F. Bay Area, but no word, photos or another magazine article has been done. The rumor has died down and another fabulous hot rod build gets lost forever.

The hot rod folks in the S.F. Bay Area must have some knowledge of such a cool hot rod hiding in the area.

Despite the chopped top and panel area, my wife and I fit perfectly into the custom seats. The view out of the windshield was a little smaller, but it was the feeling of being in that chopped Sedan Delivery that made it worthwhile. Plus, we were nimble 20 somethings that could fit into any small comfortable spaces. Ha!

Id like to see a tribute (or replica) of Eugene Hewitt's Bonneville running 32 roadster with its 248" Wayne 12 port head equipped Chev 6, cyclone stovebolt to early ford transmission adapter, 39 top loader, and early ford rear end. The other side of the engine is my avatar. To me, this car is truly inspirational.

If it weren’t for the fact that we live in So Cal and the Reath Automotive Altered Sedan is the first introduction to the Altered Class at Lion’s Dragstrip. We could hear the White Model A Sedan before we saw it in the pits. Then on several runs, it set the tone for being a fast Altered Sedan. As we got older and we began to see other Model A sedans in competition via Drag News or the hot rod magazines, we became aware of other race cars that look as mean as they run.

The Terry Frost Model A B/Fuel Altered Sedan was one that caught our eye. If my brother and I did build an Altered Sedan, it would have looked like this particular design. We would have been in competition with the white Model A Altered Sedan from Joe Reath’s Automotive Speed Shop.


The Terry Frost Model A sedan has all of the things necessary to be a fast, competitive Altered Sedan. If looks could kill, there would be plenty of carnage. It just looks fast sitting around.
