    Hi guys,

Im going for an allmost all 34 Ford front end ( F1 wheels/brakes ) cross steering setup.
Id like to use the original 33 column.
Can it be cut and adapted to use with mustang or saginaw 525 boxes ?

    thanks for any advice

33 chevy used parallel leaf springs.

Do you have an axle and suspension? If you don't, consider if you swap to transverse leaf spring and axle like ford's. Most of the parts are based on that front suspension layout. That will help determine steering needs.

  3. 33 chev is a side steer , havent tried the original box , was figuring 38-40 chev box would be an improvement. Columns and box are one piece. Can be cut and a rag joint or universal can be installed .

Sorry Indy. I should have been more clear.
Front end will be all Ford. Axle and transverse spring

  5. Might look at either a 47-59 Chevy truck box,or a 48-52...53-56 Ford box.Side steer. Rebuild parts are out there.

That's what I would like to know. Given it's such an old column, is it possible to shorten it and adapt to a newer box ?

  8. I have cut the steering column at the box and rejoined the columns using a universal steering joint , could also use a rag joint , I welded my connections .
