I have just received this message from his family that he passed away with his family by his side in New Mexico. He had been there for 2 years. Had the best of care for cancer. His daughter is a doctor there. He was 92 and a half years old. Jesse and Junior (Herschel) Conway, were the last two employee's at Barris Kustom to remain with us, now it’s just Jr. Rip and God speed Jesse.
Condolences to the Lopez family and friends in the passing of Jesse...an influential man behind the scenes making things happen...I look forward to more of his legacy shared here...may he rest in peace after such a lengthy battle with this nasty disease... Regards, Stogy

Quite honestly my knowledge of the custom car people in our past is pretty slim but a quick peek at the thread referenced above by @Stogy makes me want to know more about Jesse Lopez. Coming from humble beginnings he carried the values he learned growing up throughout his life. RIP Jesse.
92. Wow! "Live long and prosper". Evidently he took the Vulcan expression to heart. RIP, you earned it.
Condolences to his friends and family. Lord knows you did him proud Jerry, you have done a lot to solidify his legacy.
Sorry to hear of his passing. Great story about an interesting life. He looked the part, and he lived the life !
Condolences to family and friends. But why the heck does a man of age like that have to have cancer? Just not fair.
Too bad there was no way to have taken pictures with him and your clone. It might have reignited some old spark in him that he had thought he lost a long time ago. Rest In Peace.
As @Stogy already mentioned ... Back in 2011, HAMBer @Michelley posted this wonderful biographical thread: Jesse Lopez - Lo! & Behold ... and then in 2015, @Rikster reposted it (in a much more reader friendly format) on his CUSTOM CAR Chronicle website: Jesse Lopez - Lo! & Behold
