Some more recent pics Slow progress but steady. I have the steel B pillars done, the rear frame horns flipped, and the rear spreader bar rolled, and tack welded in. I have a roof filler sent to Chip Quin in Pheonix for louvers. And OfCourse the chop has begun.
I really like the chop! Are you eye balling the chop or are you doing it by angle? I also like the look of the wide five rims,
Just asking because sometime next winter I will try to change my 3 w. It has a 4 inch regular chop but I want to angle it back and keep the windshield at 6 inches.
I had the 6 in chop about half done when I got the stupid idea to take another 2 inches out. So back to the drawing board. It will start to take the look when I get the door tops in. I have the roof insert panel in Pheonix with Chip Quin getting the louvers done. That will help the final look. Rear window was 4 in and now 3 inches.
Got a little more done on the chop. Must say, taking this much chop is creating issues I never ran into with the 4- and 6-inch chops I've done in the past. Bought an english wheel in order to make the skins above the A pillar. Just started fitting the door tops.
Not working on it to hard but have made some progress. Got the roof panel welded in, the trunk lid and hood louvered, engine is assembled with Navarro heads and intake. I'm getting ready to put in a floor section forward of the B pilers and mount the new Schroeder cowl steering.
Looks good, good to see a flathead in there. I like the looks of that intake too, looks like you could still get a center-mount generator on there without interfering with the carbs.
Yes, a generator dose fit center mount. I took the gen and magneto off to lighten the engine up for mockup.
I cut the front floor section out, didn't like it. Now have the new floor installed along with the toe boards and trans tunnel. I was a little concerned about how to mount a gas pedal. I came up with the idea of using one of my spoon throttles and cut it down and mounted it to the schroeder . It's going to work perfect. clears the brake pad and tunnel. Put it off long enough and have been working the door tops. To my mind this is the hardest part of chopping a 34 3W.
Coming together nice! I like the pedal mount, as long as that's a comfortable spot for your foot I see no reason not to do it like that. Space is always a factor, sometimes you've gotta get creative.
Everything has to be moved back due to the Schroeder steering gear needs to be mounted right where the stock pedals were. The 34 3W I built before this one had the throttle pedal mounted on the trans tunnel. It was a little awkward to go from gas to brake. I'm fixing several issues like this that I had with the other one.
Thanks. I used Steve's quarters, decklid and panel below the decklid. Had to shorten Steve's roadster quarters about an inch.
getting the chassis done so i can put the body back on and run the engine. Trying something a little different for me, I built the exhaust system using 3" oval SS tubing running under the frame.
That's lovely. I like the lever shocks up front too, not sure if I noticed that before. I have similar ones on my T.
