This Grand Vehicle Showed from 1986 to 2001 in Tennessee. One of its most noteable features the Blown Engine!
During the years this car was awarded exactly 55 Awards! Winning 1st place or dealers choice in almost all of them!
It has custom upholstery and steel belted radial tires. Currently the car is in the garage and a new Scoop has been handmade for it by using a homemade bender and aluminum sheet. You can see the scoop in one of the photos and it has been handsanded and polished.
What a stunning automobile! A truly unique wagon! This car was featured in the "Rod & Custom Show Annual" Magazine's 25th Anniversary Issue. The issue states " 1955 Pontiac Safari with all chrome one piece firewalls, power steering and brakes, and painted a chocolate brown with beige metallic lacquer. Powered by a 400 cu. in. blown Pontiac motor. Owner and Builder Johnny Jones of Nashville, Tennessee!"

Many more stories will be posted about this car if the demand is wanted, and more photos if also wanted. Thanks for your comments and questions all questions can be answered so please ask! And another thing, this isn't a trailer queen! [IMG]

I bet that you have another hood for the car, hanging up in the rafters in the garage.

I remember seeing this car cruising around East Nashville. It was very impressive and I still remember listening to the blower driven engine! Seems like it was coming through Shelby Park on Sunday afternoons(a local car cruising scene) in the late 70s. It was also in the Hunter's car show for years, which was kinda the pinnacle of organized events for this area at that time. Rumors over the past years have been that it hasn't moved from the garage over in the Riverwood area for decades. Would love to see it out again.

Since I grew up in that area, I would like to know who stitched the interior, who painted it, who built the engine. Growing up I really took for granted all the hotrod activity in that area. Music City Rod Shop, Hunters, Tennessee Speed Sport, Surefit, Alex Hendry's Front End Alignment, I'm sure I'm leaving something out. There were half dozen chrome plating shops. Every other block had a gas station with some type of race car. A great area and a really good era. Man I am glad you posted this!

I'm gonna guess Jerry Baskin did the stitching. He turned out lotsa really good stuff. Although Ray Eller was going strong along about then. Too many painters to choose from. My first guess is Jim Simpkins did the engine. He's still one hell of an engine builder and machinist and did mostly Chevys, but he had that old GTO and really liked Pontiacs. Second guess on the engine would be Grooms. Course it coulda been Brandon and Turnage, Gardners, or Auto Machine down on Shelby. Man you have really stirred up some memories!!!!
