  3. There is a handbuilt "27 roadster" that showed up last year and was forced to run in the lakester class since the body was not an exact replica. same goes with glass bodies, not all are clean copies of Henry Ford steel. There are actually dimensions they can check, go or nogo.

Do any builders put an outward rolled lip on the bottom edge, similar to dragsters, funny cars and NASCAR stockers to both strengthen the lower edge and restrict the inward rushing of air under the car?

I am going to build a splitter for front, just haven't done it yet. i wanted to so a separate splitter so size and shape can be changed with out changing the nose itself.

Those nosepieces are fragile enough as it is, what with loading/unloading issues, folks tripping over them, hitting debris, and just plain driver negligence. I have a couple nosepieces for mine, both of which have taken a few battle scars as evidenced in my pic. The lip gives it some structure.

Very awesome work. Can I ask the purpose of the setback drivers compartment? I know a lot of the roadsters are setup that way. Is it more of a packaging thing or a center of pressure / aero thing?

Speaking of packaging is the drivetrain centered ahead of the rear end, or is it also offset? Looks pretty centered & straight in your overhead shot.

SCTA Rules allow it in modifieds and gas/fuel roadsters. Driver must be in front of the centerline of the rear axle. Reason to do it are obvious.

engine and trans are centered due to no room to offset, right now each head has about an inch of clearance between them and the hood sides. sitting that far back allows the driver to be in more of laid back position and get down and out of the air

The similarities of this to WW11 aircraft construction are hugely evident in your crafting of this masterpiece of speed @cornfieldcustoms...a joy to witness...A little Corn makes a day much brighter...;)

Great to see all the fine workmanship. I like the structural braces under the skins. Are they designed with the scallops and openings to be more flexible to form and shape? If not, they look cool as hell, even tho when I saw a peek at them I thought, "now…he's just showin' off!?"
    Keep up the craft.

    Thanks man

thanks. There is no real benefit to the holes and scallops when it comes to the shaping process. All the shaping was done first then holes punched and edges scalloped

Tonight i got the windscreen transition trimmed down and cleaned up. Also cut out some lexan for the windscreen. Left a little tall so i can trim down on the car for the proper attitude C48209C7-6556-4D2B-9909-171BE1F9854C.jpeg B08BBEDB-E385-477E-ACCB-34A2B80751B9.jpeg CFC4C26C-3BA1-47D7-AC64-A84BBBC79DC1.jpeg BB75B515-0E2B-47D2-AA7B-89CAE6BE6DBC.jpeg 00060334-06B2-495C-AB61-1592C79ACB1F.jpeg

A friend just down the road from me is in the process of building two experimental airplanes. Ribs in the wings and fuselage stiffeners are done the same way as you're doing with the structural skin braces in order to reduce weight. In your case, it may not be much but every little bit helps, right?
