  1. I was going to make him a $14,900 offer but since he's keeping the intake and seat, feerrrrgettt it!

  2. I dig the look but have also seen it go bad.
    I kinda dig this one

One thing that has always made me wonder... And I don't know if this was ever a finished car or not but what in the hell makes someone sand a car down to bare metal one day and the next they push it outside and let it rust away? how does this happen?

  4. Life gets in the way.
Or it hits a snag and stalls. I’ve seen a few like this. I’ve got a cab I blasted 18 years ago in my shop. At least it’s indoors. Has some slight surface rust. I built other peoples cars, changed plans, work, kids, and laziness get in the way.

but distractions from other builds get in the way.
I just sold my daily driven 67f100.
Bought the 8ft brake I posted and parts to finish other projects. I have 4 on going now plus helping my son on his Jeep and a couple waiting The one at school is close. That will take the place of the f100
May consolidate those (sell others) to concentrate on the 56 wagon and 50 merc.

  5. My 51 GMC was that way. At some time I assume, the ranch kids decided to build a "hot rod farm truck" Interior was painted red, the Jimmy manifold was split and the body was 99% stripped of paint before they stalled out. Then it just sat beside the barn for who knows how long? Being stripped was actually a bonus, I could see the metal and what little bodywork they had started.

Wonder how he was able to combine the 3.55 gears with 6 lug axles ...

  7. Wonder if a truck with a glide had 355 gears if trucks got a glide.
I’ve seen the 4 spd hydros

I looked it up in Hollander 1941-1954 pumpkins interchange

  9. Another way.
A friend bought a 51 Chevy truck like that.
Had a new floor, custom firewall, dash……
Shop got in trouble with the law and the owner, frustrated with it, parked it outside under a tarp.
Friend bought it almost too late.

  10. Dang. There’s a 54 in the scrapyard with a glide
    Might need to investigate

No problem there - but the axles don't fit ...

you know for a fact that 41-54 axle splines are different? Hollander wouldn't say it fit if it didn't EEDB36FB-5C4C-475A-9847-66C55DDBC982.jpeg

The splines are same, granted. When you start trying to find 6 lug axles that fit as is, that's where the trouble begins.

  17. The cars had 6 lug till around 49ish? so wouldn’t the later (up to 54) pumpkin swap?

yes, they interchange from 41-54 according to Hollander, I am not sure what @302GMC is referring to, the axles stay with the car and only the ctr section is changed, maybe he is confusing it with trucks? the cars fit and trucks do not

Would look better with the quarter window glass. That is unless it was a padded Carson style liftoff top...

The same people who chew on tin foil do this kind of fuckery .
Even if “ life got in the way “ or what ever a bit of spray paint goes along way to seal it up .

Cool car with some mods like @BamaMav saud quarter windows and some cleaning up of lines I think it would be killer

but not for $15,000 large !

I was thinking the same thing... Didn't know they auctioned those thing's off! :p Always thought they were a set price! :D:D:D Doesn't matter though, couldn't buy one at my house, anyway... o_O

  25. The qtr window area is tough.
Ford nailed it for the 35/36 3w. These larger bodies can look odd as a 3w. But if the sail panel was not as fat, I think it would work.
Move the roof skin forward a couple inches (A-post stays in the same spot) angle the rear window towards the front a little?
A slight lengthening of the door. A combination of all 3?

  26. Yeah . . . But the rest of the ad copy was so rambling and vague that I guess I gave up on interpreting bits of it.
