Tri-State Dragstrip is still there, tagged along with a neighbor who raced there circa 1965 before he moved away.
I have that picture (print) in black and white in my bar room I see Lil32 recognised that as an Aussie location also Another Aussie shot. Looks like Melbourne
Surely you have seen the old movies where the planes peel off,\ and go inverted as they dive? Early in the movie 'The Battle of Britain' you see an early Spitfire do a victory roll, when inverted, the engine coughs and stops, only to fire up again as the plane completes the roll emitting a big clout of black smoke, You will see an example and explanation in this short video. Please excuse the inaccuracies where they repeatedly show Hawker Hurricanes identified as Spitfires. [/QUOTE] Thanks for taking the time to post the explanation.
Looking up some fun stuff on my P.C. I'll share them, but please let me know if you don't think they should be posted on here? Thanks for your post!
I grew up near there, great drag strip, I went there and Edgewater in Cleves quite a bit. Tri-State was damaged a few years ago by heavy rain, I believe it has been sold, the strip itself is still there but I believe it is now a landscaping company.
