Open House at Stoker's Hot Rod Factory, Thursday, all day. Do a search for it here on the HAMB for details, they did post about it. I think it starts something like 8:00 a.m., till ?

Also, Thursday night in Anaheim there will be a cruise night at Highway 39 Event Center. The cruise night happens outside, but inside the event center they will have dinner and a bar and a band playing (friends of mine will be playing), prices are very reasonable. And they have one of the best collections of HAMB worthy cars you've ever seen. Definitely worth your time to make the trip to see the collection. Bring your camera, you'll want to take photos.

  5. So who’s the band at the Highway 39? I sure could use some blues.

Brougham Blues Band, a very good band with some of the top musicians in the LA blues scene.

The bass player, Chris Smith, builds hot rods for his day job.

So I made it out to the Stoker's open house. I had intended on heading out early, was even going to that the day off work, but an important meeting notice came late on Wednesday, so I got stuck in the office till noon before I could get away. By the time I got there all the early crowd had left, so there wasn't a lot of activity going on, but I shot some photos anyway, here they are:

So after that it was cruise night car show, party at the Hwy 39 Event Center in Anaheim. I apologize for the poor quality of the pics, all I had with me was my cel phone, and the lighting really sucked.

I had a long talk with the owner of this custom 40 Ford. He claims his father bought this car in the 50's, he says the car was built by Gil and Al Ayala and that is an original Carson Top. Sometime in the 60's the car got parked in the garage during his family raising years. He remembers playing in it as a kid, and his dad kicking them out of it. The car got buried under a load of things being stored around and on it, and after his father passed he dug it out and resurrected it, with help from Jimmy Shine. He says his father also had LSR cars he ran at El Mirage, and when he quit doing that the engine from his race car was installed in this one, and is still in it today. I wish I would've gotten contact info from him and arranged to shoot photos of it some other time. If I happen to see him again I will try to do that.

I did an internet search on Ayala brothers built cars, did not see this one in anything that came up.

You know it's a classy garage when they have what looks like a couple original Oriental Rugs on the floor
