Hot Rods What is this steel wheel?

It is a 15” 5 on 4.5. It’s solid and has what might be a Ford oval on it. Did Ford ever have a solid 15” rim, of is it something else. I need one more and I’m not sure what to look for.

 

To me the center doesn't look correct for a ford?

 

‘60’s/‘70’s Mopar heavy duty wheel…police, station wagon, towing package option etc.

that’s my guess anyway.

 

It could be. Did Mopar ever use an oval stamp on their wheels?

Do you know the width? That might help with identifying it. And, I think I may have one that matches it...

 

The rectangular recess at each lug hole instantly tells me it's a late 60s-70s Ford wheel.

The link above to the Cougar 15x7 wheel with the solid center confirms it.

 

Wow, do you think they actually get $300.00 for a used wheel!!?? That would be worth a lot of junkyard scourging!!

 

I just pulled a set of wheels like that from a 1970 Thunderbird. I've also seen similar on 80s-90s crown Vic/Grand Marquis (pictured)

 

That wheel doesn’t look ANYTHING like the one in question.

 

Maybe 5 inches wide. If you do have one I would definitely be interested in it.

The 15x7 Ford steel wheels in that photo link are pretty rare. Boss 302's, optional on 1970-71 Torino's.

 

Steel wheels have gone the way of the Dodo bird at salvage yards. To them there is no market worth the time or storage. It's down to supply and demand.

 

Yep…..the OP’s wheel has no slots and three hub cap bumps……the one shown from a ‘70 T-bird has slots and four bumps…..

Ford wheels take a bigger hub cap and a mopar takes a smaller hub cap. We have used 1950 Ford hub caps on late 70’s wheels.
