History The 1932 Ford turns 90 years old in 2022

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jan 17, 2022.

  1. So happy you ended up with dad's roadster. Could not have gone to a better hot rodder. Can't wait to see your personal touches on it.

  2. My 32 cabriolet/think early production as vin number is F18xxxx. F stands for right hand drive,18 represents v8 and only 4 digits follow. Probably a March or April 32 production. Flatheads Forever—-driven daily as south Texas weather permits. Runs 80 in 1/8 mile with 3:89 locker in rear at track—regular gear is 2:75—pushed car to 3,000 rpm in high gear, turned out to be 91 mph still accelerating hard—should run 100 easily. 78193A9A-5500-4E6E-B45F-08A3A6981732.jpeg 670B5CC7-BCD3-4B50-9A91-E4098A6DDA68.jpeg 1BFA855F-E717-4623-88F2-3741EA3E4694.jpeg

This is the other 32 that I bought from a family that owned it for 75 years... steadily hot rodding it and eventually changing the body from a three window to a cabriolet. Many engine changes as well.
I carried on the tradition by replacing the engine with a 1965 425cu in Buick Gran Sport engine and kept the switch pitch turbo 400 transmission attached. Two fours sound great when dumped wide open!;):D
With the hood... and before replacing the engine:

After replacing the engine and transmission... and the rear suspension::D

Can't bring myself to cover that engine back up.:D:D

OK, I'll jump in. 1st 2 photos are of my scratch built 3-window, circa 1982 the Deuces 50th anniversary.
The last photo is my current hiboy. Gotta try them all before I check-out!

    I had a '32 Pickup...for about a week.

I had bugged a guy to sell me his '32 pickup for about 10 years. He finally sold it to my in the late '90s for $900.
A week or so later, a guy walks into the shop and says "I want to buy the '32 Pickup"
    "Not for sale" I said.
    "I'll give you $2000"
    "Not for sale"
    "I'll give you $3000"
    "Not for sale"
    "I'll give you $4000"
    "Not for sale"
    "I'll give you $5000"
    "You own it"
    No regrets, $5000 was a LOT of money for a semi-rough '32 Ford Pickup back in the '90s;) PD_0035.jpg PD_0036.jpg PD_0037.jpg

This one sat in the same spot for almost 2/3rds of its life. It’s now in my garage among other old fords waiting it’s turn.
