It has been 15 years since the list of “The 75 Most Significant ’32 Ford Hot Rods” was chosen and published here, in books and magazines. I do not have a problem with any of the Deuces chosen at that time but there were a few I thought could have been included. For the 90th anniversary of the ’32 Ford now in 2022 there is a possibility of adding another 15 to that list. I would personally like to nominate three Deuces I feel are very worthy. There are of course many others.
    - Don Tognotti’s Avenger which I thought was the toughest looking Deuce Coupe when I first saw it in the July 1962 Car Craft
    [IMG]
    - Mike O’Neill’s Dave Simard built chopped full fendered 3-W which was in the first issue of Rodder’s Journal and was also on the first Rodder’s Journal poster
    [IMG]
    - Vic Edelbrock’s chopped and flamed 5-W Hi-Boy in recognition of his contributions to the hobby. This photo was taken at Deuce Days in Victoria BC of which Vic was a big supporter. Deuce Days is scheduled to take place again in Victoria July 2022

I obviously did not thoroughly read the OP's post but my statement as to (some of) my favorites still stands.

I remember asking my dad what "deuce coupe" meant when I was a wee lad, so I guess this is my "aha" moment when it comes to 32's

I hadn't seen that list before, that is a pretty comprehensive list of hot 32's

I can't imagine how the Vulcans Vicky didn't make the first 75 list. It's probably in my top 25.

Shit, was that 15 years ago at GNRS. We were living in the States at the time and spent a great day at the show. A couple of days later they had a Deuce day at the Peterson which was just as good.

Also from memory not all of the list made it to the GNRS. American graffiti coupe never got there because of weather on East coast (I think that is correct?).

    I lead a sheltered life I guess, I don’t know if I’ve even seen 90 ‘32 Fords.
    I gotta get out more.

Somehow it doesn't seem right to include plastic replica '32 Fords on the list. Opinion, Ron

Ron, even though I own a Wescott replica roadster I (sort of) agree but as the list(s) keep growing it may be a fact of life, I guess it depends on the calibre/provenance of the car.

  16. 11 of the 75 significant 32's that X38 listed were not Henry Ford bodied.

  20. The realm of custom cars goes beyond the scope here. The plastic ones still influenced just like the steel ones.
I know one of the guys that participated in the voting. If I remember correctly, this subject was part of the discussion. I guess the pro builders, magazine guys ..... that voted felt the need to include em. I’d be willing to bet some agreed with ya though

Lobecks first roadster was Henry steel and his second one many years later was a Wescott.
    I'm happy with those statistics.

Edit - I swear I looked over that original list of 75 half a dozen times and didn’t see the Lil Coffin! I think I was looking for Dave Stuckey. Oh well.

upload_2022-1-22_4-1-36.png Jack Stewart 1932 Ford Roadster So Cal

    Hello,

How could any list not have the nicest 1932 Ford Roadster built by Jack Stewart? It is an iconic red 32 roadster and many have seen it all over So Cal when it was active. Photographs did make it look great, but the actual roadster itself, as noted by my invitation to ride along with Jack Stewart, solidified my knowledge of a well built roadster.

If the experience of riding along in a 32 roadster is noted, then the list obviously left off one fabulous roadster. How many of those on the list were experienced by those involved in the hot rod world?

    Jnaki

This Red 1932 roadster belongs on that list to make it 76 of “The 75 Most Significant ’32 Ford Hot Rods.”

Or for this post, within the top 90 list. YRMV

Another 1932 Ford hot rod would be Jim Lattin’s two toned Phaeton. At the time, this phaeton was one of a kind and well-built to boot. It looked like a museum piece/show car and was a daily driver back then.

I have a penchant for Buick Skylark Wire Wheels since we saw them in 1954-55 and I put a set of them on my 58 Impala in 1963. Thanks to @themoose for showcasing another Impala that could have looked like my own 58 black Impala.
    upload_2022-1-22_4-3-49.png

So, Not only are the two 1932 Fords rolling with pristine sets of Skylark Wire Wheels, but it just makes any hot rod classy and cool. Add in Number 91 and 92 to the list. (Jack Stewart and Jim Lattin)

  26. @moparboy440 I see several Australian cars in that list, including ones owned by people I know and one I was looking at pictures of only yesterday. (Glenn Tronc phaeton)

Glad to see Hank Negley's roadster there too. 127 on gas in 1947:)

I’m kinda biased, but Mark Morton’s Hop Up Jive Five coupe should be on any list 08A3D532-B466-4883-89F0-00E9DF58D466.jpeg B47B8EAC-4C37-4BE9-949A-FFD3DB33AD6F.jpeg 2CF5ABAF-1DFA-4C3C-B4A0-6A340220A68D.jpeg

Can’t see how Jim Lytle’s five window, and Bob Rothenberg’s three window were not listed in the original 75.

Impressive list, but, didn't Doane Spenser & Neal Easts overlap ? At one time they both owned the same roadster .
