My uncle was a deputy sheriff in a northern Michigan county where they had their own cars . He bought a 61 Starliner with a 390 3 speed . He said he never got outrun until a 421 Pontiac got him.
He traded for a 421 4 speed Catalina the next year.

Every style change from '60 to '61 seem, to me, not an improvement. The '60 models seem to be cohesive. (This from a guy that has a '54 Plymouth.)

Back in 1965 we put 3x2's off a 406 on my friends '60 352/360 Starliner and removed the bent front bumper. At a local dragstrip those modifications put the car in C/Gas. That class was full of Tri-five Chevys and even a couple '41 Willys. Here is a photo from near the 1/4 mile finish line showing a close run against one of the faster C/Gassers that day. The '56 Chevy won by a fender over the Starliner. Not bad for still having the T-85 3-speed tranny. My friend was told not to bring the Starliner back until he got a blow-proof bell housing on the car.

  7. They're good looking cars, but not the ones with those big goofy looking pro touring wheels

    Nice! ^^

I had a red '60 Starliner in '68. Nothing special, just another car.
Swapped out the auto for a 3-speed.

I had a black 61 Starliner in 1964. Copied this picture from the internet. Have no idea where it’s at who owns it but just about perfect as it sets. E1965163-9B42-441F-B086-E67521445C92.jpeg
