  1. How did I miss this??? What a great build! Sounds like your priorities are right too.

BBC is out. Turbo small block is going back in. Hoping to finally build the Hidden agenda as originally intended.

You have until August to get that thing to the HAMB Drags. Keep at it.

Scored a nice hood. Gotta extend it because of the 32 frame. While everyone is staring at perfection at the roadster show I sit in my shop sipping whiskey and laying down some Sem trim black for another go at it!

It depends on who shows up. Sometimes the winner is a 13 second car, or Racer X might drive his insane 6 second Dodge coupe. The real goal is to actually drive your car to the Drags, flog the hell out of it and still make it home. It's fun as Hell, you'll dig it I promise.

Help fellow hotrodders: I am looking to buy a full set of hydraulic roller lifters for a first gen small block chevy. I am looking for any set other than comp cams part# 15853. As you see in the picture I have 3 pair with roller pin problems. Seat height 2.66, Body dia 0.842 in. Any help locating a set is greatly appreciated.

Off the wall response, but have you considered going with a solid roller lifter instead? If you watch Engine Masters, they put solid roller lifters on a hydraulic roller cam with some good results... their only concern was durability/life cylcles long term because no one has really tested this.

Yes I have thought of going solid roller. That is what comp cams recommended. (No one has solid lifters either). I have talked with Jegs, Summit, and Com Cams. They are out of stock of all roller lifters for 1-3months. I talked with a couple other manufactures today that had nothing available and asked them what was up. They said no one can get the steel to make them. Its a crazy world. I never would have thought I couldn't find a roller lifter for a sbc. I know this may be crazy but whats your thoughts on tig welding the shafts on the set that I have? Just to be clear I was trying to find lifters with the same seat height so that I don't have to change push rods also.

Why not use the LS7 lifters? They are interchangeable. Cheap too.

The solid lifters are shorter than hydraulic, so you would have to change pushrods in that situation. I can't advise on welding the shafts to the set you have, I have no experience with that and am not the best welder, or engine builder for that matter LOL. I recently bought lifters and I had the same problem you have, I got the last set of solid rollers Summit had that were reasonably priced.

LS7 lifters will only work in a late model roller block with the lifter spider and factory lifter links, because they don't have the tie bar like the retrofit ones, unless I am totally missing something here.

You are correct. I wasn’t thinking about the early block provisions. I have been on Darts website all day looking at later styled blocks. My bad.
