Auggie Cardella, Mike Caruso, Honey Purich, Paul Russo & Bob Sall in the Caruso #12 Miller. Nutley Velodrome 1938.
#2971 - That's New Jersey’s infamous Nutley Velodrome in 1938. Tommy Hinnershitz is leading, curiously running a low groove. In the second row back, that's Paul Russo in the #35 and Johnny Ritter in the #23. Ritter is running close to where Hinnershitz liked to run while on dirt: on the far side of the cushion. Walt Falkner joins the Pole Club in 1948 at Culver City and collects a trophy with Leonard Faas’s Offy-powered Kurtis. On the right is the Elmer Ross-built Del Mar Automobile Project that never got off the ground. That’s Elmer behind Walt in a suit. Elmer also created the Solars that were produced by Convair in San Diego right after the war. ©AHRF/Elmer Ross Collection via Chris Farre.
Sure looks like a HS parking lot. I like the little oddball/misfit contingent of foreign cars on the right: Volvo 444, MG TF, and Bugeye Sprite.
Done by people who wrecked their car and didn't have the money to fix the lights correctly. They passed it off as "customizing" but we knew the truth.
