Great thread:cool: Beautiful cars from days gone by.:) Gives me inspiration to try to do more on mine, but Dammit, it's so hard to stop driving it as is in order to do the little things it needs to be more finished.
This thread also gives a lot of reinforcement to my previous comments that the bucket sized headlights on the cars being built today by lots of folks ain't period correct or traditional.

  4. I gotta admit that Gray's full fender roadster made a impression on me not unlike the man himself. HRP

  6. Five pages in and no one has mentioned this one yet?? Pedigree that goes back to the 30's, and was driven by the King himself before he left the building!

Note: I was warned this week for the first time in EIGHTEEN years here to keep my posts on topic, so, ladies and germs, here it is. This was one of the original cars that started this whole mess.

It does NOT get more traditional than this....

I haven't looked through the whole thread to see if it's already been mentioned, but isn't that Mike Chase's "Old Blue"?

Edit: Now I have looked through the whole thread, and didn't find Mike's name invoked. So I'll suggest, with somewhat more certainty, that the '29 was Mike Chase's car.

Lurker Mick says he thinks it's Mike Bishop. I think he's right; my mistake.

  13. Bishop's Ol' Blue was on A rails. Based in a lot of ways on the old Don Ferrara roadster.

Tony is also correct about Mike Bishop's car, so I have no idea whose car the first blue roadster was!

For me, it would be the McGee and Kessler's (Ward) roadsters, with a lot of others a close third. Different eras, but shows the development of the timeless classic IMHO.

This is the one for me that did it.
Here in the UK in the 70's as a teenager, it was this roadster (and the Milner coupe) were pretty much the only 'real' hot rods I'd ever seen, so these two films are very significant for this reason.

Shoot Mick, I'd say damn easy to do just glancing at it.....the Bishop really looks to be the inspiration for that first roadster.
