Thats a cool pic. I remember watching Jo race at Watkins Glen in the late 60's. I'm a big F1 fan and just love those early cars. I wish they would bring back the v12's. There's nothing like the sound of a screaming 12 cylinder !!

In my early drawings, the color blue was selected from the proposed colorization and then a choice of red was shown, too. But further research and contact with the family provides more valuable information.

#13 was called the “Scat Bug,” short for Scatter Bug. The actual color was a maroon with light grey numbers. This was the first use of the “H” front nerf bar. The “H” front nerf bar was well publicized on the Red 1924 T roadster, with the original Moon Eyes design on the roadster.

So, what is the original color of the #13 "Scat Bug?" In my conversation with the family, the color of the early 1934 Ford Coupe was a Maroon with Silver/Grey lettering. Here is the final color drawing, as close as Maroon would look on the same 34 Ford as presented earlier last Friday the 14th.

I recently received email that explained that Popeye was a real person
"Frank "Rocky" Fiegel" born 1868 in Poland
Long story but the creator met up with him when Frank moved to USA
and this is how all the cartoons/stories happened
I believe it a true story

 

Am assuming the car is a BRM with the 12 cylinders, really nice wall hanger. Would much prefer that over any Andy Warhol
