What would the correct ignition timing be on a 1955 Bel Air Chevrolet, with a 327 cubic-inch engine and a four-barrel carburetor? ;)

    Wrong!

What Wall St. investments (besides the JAB Co.) are paying good returns presently? And will a 283/327 build be a featured thread soon?

Why did the carb on my engine(427) stick on full throttle when I tried to race it when I was 16. Had to pull the wire on my coil to shut the motor down. It diesel`d a bit, but the motor finally shut down.

    Way back on pg. 1

Technically speaking, Paul Revere apparently didn't own a horse. I looked it up.

He borrowed a horse for his famous midnight ride. The guy he borrowed it from, had borrowed it yet from somebody else. The name of the horse hasn't been conclusively established from the historical record, although "Brown Beauty" is a contender. It is said that the horse was not returned.

(Jim of course naturally knew all this, and more, I'm just saving him the drudgery of having to type all this stuff out).

Silly nonsense in my opinion. With Google ,the Internet, a person who's been on this site for 15 years could answer just about any question .....
The real knowledge comes from working on and building vehicles..Jim (In NJ a Squirrel was derogative term for a wanna be street racer) has built car/engines for years and does a great job with drag racing them....But by his own admission knows less about old hot rods than many guys here...

So, we have tree squirrels and flying squirrels and 13-lined ground squirrels (the wonderfully named Ictidomys tridecemlineatus) but what is a stump squirrel?

Why did Chevy run the distributor through the intake manifold?

so they'd be in oil, and wouldn't get stuck like Ford distributors?

It's really probably because it was easier to make it that way.

I like the first answer better. As you can see, the surface around the distributor in front of the back wall is lower, which would allow oil in. It would have been just as easy to run the wall around the front looks like.

Isn't there an oil passage that bisects the dist bore needing a groove in the dist housing? Maybe back wall lower towards front to keep oil in the block?
