I got my 34 in 78, didn't get it on the road till 84. I had been a spectator at Pueblo for a few years but drove it there in 84. I have only missed one since. (motorcycle ride to Alaska in 05 ) Ive been to three Nationals in Louisville. the first was the year of the flood, 92 ? I lucked out & was parked on the high side lot. I returned in 16 & 17. Great times on every trip, but pretty hot & humid in 16.

First Nats 1993 Louisville, KY. Over 15,000 cars in attendance. After doing family things and out of the old car hobby for many years I said why not? Shortly there after started building a 37 Chevy coupe. Since then I've had numerous cars and have been involved in the old car hobby up to my eye balls.

1974 St Paul. Age 15. That one and 1977 aren’t memorable although the cars were awesome.
Most memorable would be 1978 as by then I was 19 and going to Columbus meant a trip to a show away from the home state.
Beer tasted better....women looked better...Had that ‘not from around here’ attitude.

Wonder what ever happened to Wendy.
    I think it was Wendy.
    Could have been Cheryl.
Can still remember what she looked like but the name is fuzzy.

This was an Attendee from the mid 70's of several NSRA meets. I believe also Tulsa 1976. Photo is as it looks today a survivor/time capsule. My first was Tulsa 2007

My first was St. Paul in 1974, before that I attended the Slo Pokes run in Peoria Illinois a few times. When NSRA expanded to the “Street Machine” division and partnered with Car Craft for the first event in Memphis 1972 I was there and again every year until ‘79 in Milwaukee.

  10. The first NSRA national event I went to was Salem Oregon in 1983( ohhh the shenanigans). I have photos but they’re in photo album I keep stashed at my parents house.

  12. First NSRA Nationals for me was Louisville 92 with the flood. I ended up in a vendor's trailer up above the water, and my funny memory is all the cars driving out with the exhaust under the rear bumpers bubbling out like on a boat with exhaust through the transom. I moved to Louisville that year so the show was right in my town.
I went to a lot of the GoodGuys shows in Pleasanton from back in 80 and up as a teenager kid with my friends and our non-HAMB cars. Used to live in Livermore right next to Pleasanton.

The first NSRA Nationals for me was the first one in 1970.I had to have my older brother drive me there as I had not turned sixteen yet.I have some pictures somewhere of him standing next to a 32 high boy,and a picture of Cotton Werksman's Ardun t bucket.I 've also been to Louisville several times and try not to miss Kalamazoo.50 years has just flown by.

  16. Tommy, Columbus 1978 was also my first. Older brother and I drove down from Cleveland in his 1973 Datsun pickup. I’ve got pictures I can post. Have not looked at all 8 pages, so don’t want to show pictures that may have already been posted

First Street rod nats..... Wow that was a life time ago. I'm guessing it was the late 90s it would have been Ohio or Kentucky. We went for quite a few years even tried making it into a family road trip. I think the most memorable show was seeing the Oliver Hines 33 Ford coupe in the hotel parking lot but it was green at the time.

I was a guest of a friends "Street Rod family" to Nats in St.Paul 1985 at the very impressional age of 13. It was the beginning of my passion. Never had I experienced anything close to seeing all those cars in one location. And the cruising University Ave./Porkys in the evening..... it was life changing.
