Hot Rods What are you working on this long weekend?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jan 15, 2022.

  1. The weatherman is forecasting a lot of ice here so I went and bought new spark plug wires and spark plugs for the old beater, and need to change oil, hopefully we won't loose power. HRP

The kitchen table. It's hovering around 0 degrees F, and it's just crazy to turn on the heat in the garage. The table is in the basement getting the top refinished.

  4. Made sure I carried 2 buckets of coal into the garage, and momma cleaned up her shop. We're ready to get some work done if we get all of this snow dumped on us.

Not a damn thing! Weather is changing, and my Arthur doesn't like it! Sat around all day yesterday and today. Rain is coming down tonight, supposed to turn into some kind of wintery mix by morning. Hate this time of year, come on spring!!!!

We didn’t have a pipe long enough so we pressed it this way. (I was holding, posing for pics)
Tomorrow we shim king pins and finish assembling hubs

  9. I cut and split wood today just in case the high winds & ice causes us to lose power, at least we want freeze. HRP

Only 9,000 more old car magazines to sort, photograph, catalog, get all info on the computer, back up files and individually box and label.
Might take more than the weekend to get done. ;)

Tow Truck Tom, good luck sir. Our Uncle is in same Boat.
Ice Man, is definitely here. Midnight it’s -6.
Tomorrow not a good day to turn on shop heat to work on new cloth harness.
Shop Thermostat set at 40 deg. Live upstairs. Last night it was -3 . Heat never came on , 52 deg this am. But if it continues 3-4 days , frost will get to block building and insulation.
Then Olde fuel oil will kick in.

Sitting in my own chair in front of the computer screen for the first night since Christmas as my sister came over and spent a night with our mom who I have been taking care of since she fell on Christmas day. All work on the 48 has to be done on the doodle pad right now.

Door and kick panels for a friends 51 Ford. The shop furnace is on the blink. Gotta take the exhaust side apart to see if I got a blockage of some sort. If not, then the expensive parts come in...

Was going to split wood but it’s 12 degrees and I didn’t want the dog to get cold so I went in the shop and burned propane to stay warm and hammered on my 31 A fire wall flip that’s been driving me crazy. It is making me regret joining the HAMB. It’s the first hot rod I’ve ever built and all you bastards made it look easy !

  17. Another -8 this morning, got to a high of 4 with a lot of wind yesterday so I am doing nothing but research and surfing the HAMB!

  18. No snow in Orlando. Was Sunny and warm yesterday but overcast and rainy today.(glad I threw down winter grass seed last night) F3C3A00D-1BD3-4154-A786-28BA0D2D043C.jpeg 5EB67CB2-6865-4025-8BF7-0498B6993A93.jpeg F84CCA19-C167-439C-A3EC-94181EF2AD6D.jpeg 9C7F90F7-5983-434C-B1E0-50F6166A20C5.jpeg F3C3A00D-1BD3-4154-A786-28BA0D2D043C.jpeg 5EB67CB2-6865-4025-8BF7-0498B6993A93.jpeg F84CCA19-C167-439C-A3EC-94181EF2AD6D.jpeg 9C7F90F7-5983-434C-B1E0-50F6166A20C5.jpeg

  19. It’s too cold to work on Little Truckdoctor’s C-10 in our unheated shop, so we are resealing the top end on one our Harley Davidsons in the basement and waiting on the Chief’s game.

  21. It's 27 degrees with up to 55 MPH winds this morning, ice is covering everything.

I made my way out to the garage to turn on the heat and back to the house, fortunately I made it both ways standing up. HRP

Tell me about it! Got up this morning, right ear completely stopped up. Only thing I can hear out of it is that damn tinnitus ring.

Still just a cold rain here, the low pressure system is circling us like a wagon train, getting closer by the minute. One place 100 miles SW of me has gotten 7" of snow this morning, sure hope it tracks north of me.

Another day to stay close to the heat!

Was gunna start 12V change over on the 51 but 16 degrees and sunny doesn't make my garage heater happy, just makes it look warm.

  28. Hopefully the weather headed your way doesn’t hit too bad!

I’m going to attempt to clean up my shop a little today.

  29. It’s cold here too. Whatever weather Danny gets in SC eventually makes its way up here to western NC. If (and it’s a big IF) the power stays on my plan is to continue getting the roadster ready for a 347 stroker engine.
My little dog, who has never seen snow before, ran onto the back deck this morning and after about 2 seconds turned around and did a burn out toward the door…”nope, nope not gonna’ do this”. (smart dog)

  30. They say the storm will be here around 3 o'clock, snow possibly a inch an hour for awhile. While I am waiting I am polishing a thermostat housing in the house, by hand. It is 10 degrees, to cold to try and heat the shop up.:(
