Also the brown Bonneville racer that was A Christman Bros car I think, was a no sell at a Mecum auction
a while back. It was bit up 750,000 but did not make reserve. They both go on the block tomorrow
Saturday. There was a brief interview with Wayne Carinnie ( spelling?) who stated that he was helping
the family of the now deceased owner of the Merc sell the car. Per the Gentlemans request a few years before
his passing. Should be interesting. I tend to think it will be a well seasoned collector to pursue the purchase of
the merc or perhaps a well healed museum.

Any idea what time the car will be up for auction? I really can't stand seeing all the other stuff that is rolling by.

Mentioning the buyers premium, I did hear one of the company shrills offering a few bidders a discount
on the final sale price premium to encourage them to increase their bid. The guy was a very hard sell in
your face type. He seemed more annoying than encouraging to me. Of course I do all my bidding at
the Orleans Parrish inpound auctions. Not quite the same LOL

The guy you see on TV ( heavier set dark haired guy in his 30's) that converses with either Buyer or Seller on a premium discount is Frank Mecum - owner Dana Mecum's son.

I just did a quick scan of the bids, it’s like “The Price is Right”. Bids range from under 200k to over 3.5m.

Just the opposite for me. I am interested in seeing the tv tommy ivo stuff sell, the chrisman coupe, the red wagon wheel stander, dragula etc sell a few lots before the overpriced merc comes up. I kept my mouth shut because everyone else seem to be in loved with that merc but it never impressed me from day one but then I like the weird things not '32 black fords with red rims, 49-51 merc, etc.

If the other stuff wasn't selling first, I probably wouldn't turn the tv on to see that merc sell

Just so everyone knows "the other stuff" is the never ending parade of Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaros", the stuff you just mentioned should be interesting to watch.

Believe either Klairmont Collection buys to add to Golden Sahara (they sold off some cars and yes the owner died) or John D buys with investors and travels with to the shows .. be nice and keep in CA … Jim was offered $1M over 15yrs ago … est is $700K to $1M. Exciting day … still think the Peterson should have stepped up .. it was always a draw to see in person

Truly it is anyone's guess. The prices are all over the place, with higher first day prices than I have typically seen.

That Other Stuff seems to be in demand and brings good prices. Some folks like that stuff. That's okay. I like it,too. I just like cars. Here is where I do my traditional hot roddding.

I'm seeing stuff for way, way higher than I would have imagined at this Mecum auction. So I'm going to revise my guess to $2,550,000 hammer.
