Help! Can’t start my 1941 Dodge. Frustrated!

    Looks like not enough voltage. Is the truck a 6 volt or 12 volt? If the battery is under the drivers side in the cab that is 6 volts but the system is 25 volts. If 12 volts the battery is on the passenger running board in a metal box. You are not getting enough power to turn over the engine

    An to add yes there were 12 volt systems used during WW2. My ex brother in law collected old military trucks

    6 volts. Starter motor and gen say 6 volt too

    Hit the starter with short bursts of 12 volts. That'll shift a sluggish engine.

    Isolate the generator an hit the starter with 12 volts it can handle it

    Cranking way too slow. My first reaction was to focus on battery, cables starter in that order. Still think you should forgo any ignition troubleshooting until those are OK and it is cranking at normal speed. IME, when 6 volt systems crank that slow, so much current is going to the starter than not enough is available to create a good high voltage spark out of the coil.
