Another question if you please, what are your front wheels? They look like Centerlines, but the only ones I find that size are the Convo style. I am rebuilding a REMR and looking for any and all methods to help aero.
    Thanks again,
    Sterling

Those wheels look like the Centerlines I have on my old Logghe altered. Did you attach the Dzus spring clips directly to the wheels or make standoff tabs?

I made aluminum spring mount tabs and welded them directly to the wheel itself

I used 17" motorcycle wheel blanks on the front of my lakester. (#221). They have a 3/4" thick center. I drilled for 5x 5 1/2" ford hubs and replaced the hub studs with 9/16" studs and used 9/16 Ford truck aluminum wheel ,compression lug nuts. I am using the 4x22x17" Goodyear land speed tires (#2904) . Be aware that the 17" tires have a motorcycle edge bead and will only work on motorcycle type rims. Good luck with your project and hope to see the Cornfield car at Bonneville this year.

Sweet looking roadster! Super nice build, look forward to seeing you and the car on the Salt this year. We run a 27 Ford D/BGRMR current record holder 198.503. hope to meet up. Where did you source the spun aluminum wheel covers??? I'm in need for another roadster, thanks! Start Line.jpg

Speedway sells them. They have standard and deep dish. I used two 16" and two 15" deep dish on my pickup. Mine are mounted with studs and acorn nuts to make adding air easier than screwing.

Started working on the nose this week. Got the buck built mon-tue evening and put in a couple hours tonight on roughing out one side of the nose in aluminum D886B02C-622A-4FBF-AE3D-4DB3C9CC6402.jpeg 311DB41C-5496-4A33-8B3C-FE2D357A85AD.jpeg 51FE1775-A484-493E-BB1A-C16848B246B4.jpeg 6310221E-BCB2-4ED0-ABE7-24078F442C40.jpeg 5169FCD7-8931-4155-BCB7-17B59AD26CCF.jpeg

Gonna need a bump on that magneto & injection tube…. Should result in beautiful aluminum nose…. Gonna love that sweet shape. Paint it or leave natural? Sweet

well aware of the blister around the mag. The injection is coming off and running a 4 barrel which will also need a a blister to cover. The majority of the nose and hood will be painted body color, with a polished scallop

I roughed out the other side of the nose. I wanted to show the difference between a roughed out panel and whats beyond that. To me roughed in is 75% finished. In these pics you can see the difference in refined shape, the radii are more consistent and the finish on the panel is better. At this point i feel the left panel is at about 90% and the right at 75%. It took me a little over 2 hours to go 15% more and probably another couple to get to where the Left is at the point it is ready to weld. Then i have to do the same to the right side. So thats a little insight into how my mind works on roughed in. On a side note i usually take things to 95% unless it is a fully polished body or specifically requested by the client. That last 5% is 99% of the work and time and can get costly.
I also was able to make 1E4BFE09-7E3B-433E-A252-0414E3759829.jpeg 65D95129-B061-481F-AB6B-AEF22A75E3D1.jpeg C4852E7B-7184-42B0-8D79-5B0379CDFE1C.jpeg 2A0587EF-50F6-47BF-9200-5061B9C4F074.jpeg FFF2E7F6-3D01-4919-AF55-CD6077F238E8.jpeg 584CAD80-9D47-4FA7-B49A-CEBE7B0F58E1.jpeg 08EBB543-099B-40A5-AE44-0974DA1B7103.jpeg 924AD9AF-E691-4718-A84E-8BA1FBB072E0.jpeg 27C28BE1-B35C-4B0D-9B6E-B3449D439CA8.jpeg 1F2BB49F-D230-4922-B827-BB15D338094C.jpeg 2D4A2234-0550-4BFE-957D-1580B79052FC.jpeg 8DE001F7-06FC-4911-85E5-3DCFAE92A8E7.jpeg the hood side/ nose supports, got the DS in place and made the DS hood side panel.

You do amazingly beautiful and precise work.

I like your side panel reinforcement. It raises a question in my mind which I would like to ask your opinion. If it is too O/T or you can offer an opinion via PM that's OK.
If the side panel and hood has to have openings for the exhaust and/or carbs how would you reinforce that? Pic attached. I was just going to fold over a 3" flange to add stiffness and then cut out the openings. Any suggestions? Many thanks

a lot would come down to exact application. If it is a hole i would add a slightly thicker 1 inch wide doubler plate off on the back side. Edge weld, plug weld or flush rivet in place. If it is straight or slight radius you could turn a flange and hem it over

Thank you. For the individual exhaust cutouts on the hood I will add a flange on the back and then cut them out. Flush or just blind riveting probably will look more correct. I don't know if I could TIG the openings precisely enough to make them look good and consistent, even after finish grinding.
On the side for the carburetors (no pic) which will require a large cutout I thought an edge wire around the opening may prevent cracking later, with rivets added just to make both sides appear the same?
    Thanks again

wire edge is another good option depending on corner radii. Tighter corners can be tough for consistency

I like the top down shot. Slippery looking
Can the mag base be shortened to minimize the blister?
