Hey there everybody. Quick question for those who have Fatman dropped uprights. I got mine delivered today (for my '49 Ford if that matters). I went to push the pins out of them since they come installed in the bushings, but both pins were super tight and had to be twisted back and forth to get them out. I'm concerned that them being that tight will cause a ton of bushing wear. Do they all come that way or is my set the oddball?

    I'd give Fatman a call.

I agree, let them get to room temp then check again. Also see if they have any kind of grease or film to prevent rust on them

IF they have any grease or coating on them clean the pins and bushings with either carb or brake cleaner then try again. If they stay as stiff as you say even after temp and cleaning I'd be worried. Shouldn't be that tight.

If I slide the pins in either the top or bottom bushings individually they're fine. It's when I try and put them through both at the same time that theres the problem

That's what I'm worried about. I'm hoping somebody else that has used them will jump on here and tell me if theirs were like that as well

As long as they don't need more than a small hammer it's good.
That's the way I have been taught.

They should be a slip fit with a little white grease. Should go in without any force.

  10. If they are too tight they will be a bear to steer and will wear the bushings out prematurely. Send me a message to f you need them re bushed. I have a good friend with the proper pin ore machine that can bore them perfect. Not just hand ream.

I think Fatman's going to exchange them for me so hopefully the new set is good.
