My wife bought some used books at a thrift store today and this photograph was in one of the books as a bookmark. Who can identify the car and the bike.

The car might be a '30-'31 Model A, no idea on the bike.

1920's Harley Davidson. The artillery wheels on the car and ts overall length ID it as a non-Ford, I'm guessing something GM - maybe a Buick.

  4. ....I'm sure someone will I D the car and bike, but can anyone I D the folks in the photo? How cool would it be if they were relatives of someone here on the HAMB.:D

Take a look at the front fender on the bike. It’s been ridden for a bit;)

Good point, also looks like someone exiting the passenger side with a hat on.

Or maybe two fellas behind the car? I see another person through the rear most window.

Edit: that looks like an umbrella opening?

It does kinda look like an umbrella propped in the window, maybe to keep the sun out for a baby?

  15. For sure that's a Harley J D model. The signature is the Diamond on the primary cover, the air cleaner and the tank shift style along with the front brake.

I agree. I'm not a motorcycle guy, but judging from the primary cover and a front brake, I'd say it's a 1927-29 Harley JD...but the front fender is a little confusing.

The rear quarter windows on the car are pretty wide. The nearest I could find was a '30 LaSalle

many years ago I went to a farm auction for a 1912 rambler. Went a few days early to preview it and did a little research online. I could only come up with 1 picture.

I took that picture with me to the auction and showed the family that was selling the car. Next thing I knew I had the whole clan looking at the picture. turns out it was the same car. They identified the ladies in the picture and even mentioned who's house they were parked in front of. Made the family day seeing the car in one piece and bringing up old memories and that made my day even though I got outbid on it.

  20. That "thing" in the back door is someones coat laid over top of the door and then it looks like the door has been closed.

Cycle is a 28 or 29 Harley J series because it has a front brake.

  22. I agree, the front brake showed up in 1928 and the unique primary cover was used in 28 & 29. probably a JD, I believe the front fender was cut up. HRP

Looks like someone hacked the skirt off the front fender. Whats with the two control knobs on the shifter for the bike? , or am I daffy. :D

I think what you're seeing is the oiler pump knob. I'm sure someone will correct me.
On the early fenders the skirt was a separate part.
