How do I tell how much my '32 axle has been dropped? When one says they are selling a 4" drop or 5" drop, is that the total drop of the axle or is that how much over stock it is dropped? Where do I measure from? Also, what is the stock width from king pin center to center on an original '32 axle?

    Thanks,

    Dave

Check out Joe’s Speed Shop. The pictures might give you better clues as to how much drop you have. Give him a call if to like, he has dropped thousands of axles and I’m sure he can talk you through what questions you have.

'I believe the axle you have is a " Okie " axle , built by Okie Adams at Blairs Speed Shop back in the 1950's / early 1960's

Pete, where was his shop located? California? P/O owner thought it might be original Dago but I don't know. I do think it was done a long time ago.

    Thanks,
    Dave

  9. drop axles are sold by gross drop and not how much drop over/under stock. Generally speaking that is.

grab a tape measure and measure from the bottom of the drop to the bottom of the axle where it attaches to the king pin bung.

That looks a lot more like an okies axle than a dago drop. If you have a stock
Style axle simply place it next to the dropped axle and measure the difference. I believe you have a 2.5” drop on your hands.

After better measuring I have determined this is a 5" drop axle. It is going to be too low. I am also not finding anything to get the tie rod below the wishbone. I think I will buy a 4" drop from Roadster Supply, the 70508 48" king pin to kingpin and 36 1/2" perch centers. I'm tired of fighting it. Super nice OG dropped '32 axle that would be great in a fenderless roadster but it's too low for me plus the A crossmember drops me another inch. Think this axle will be for sale.
