  4. The Pittsburgh Post Gazete reported that the first roof opening was during a July 4, 1962, Carol Burnett show to which she exclaimed "Ladies and Gentlemen ... I present the sky!" Time lapse photo of the roof opening for Carol Burnett's show:

I saw the roof open on the Arena many times, but only remember being inside it once with the roof open. I was there for a monster truck event that was probably sometime in the 1990s. Even with the roof partially opened, the place filled with haze and fumes from the truck exhaust.

The following picture was identified as a Beach Boys concert at Civic Arena.

I couldn't find a date for this one, but it looks like 50s and 60s cars in the lot.

I know you were going 65 in a 45 because that is all this plane can do.

I saw the Rolling Stones there in 1965. At that period in time it was quite an attraction, but unfortunately the retractable roof didn't work well at all and it was opened very few times throughout it's lifetime.

Built in Shelburne in 1906, the Ticonderoga (fondly known as the “Ti”) operated as a day boat on Lake Champlain, serving ports along the New York and Vermont shores until 1953. In 1955, it was moved two miles overland from the lake to Shelburne Museum in a remarkable engineering effort that stands as one of the great feats of maritime preservation.
