Cool Cars and Square Roll bars and What a Jalopy Batman...

I always say the Roundy Round crowd was not by any means Indy...I'm sure it evolved but man was it rough around the edges many times...

Perhaps it did dune buggy at the farm in its afterlife...the Cowl actually looks fairly solid...

Looks like a truck trans, with a Hogshead.

Ok, ready....It'll buff out...but if the frame matches the body the price would surely be fair...and the cowl steer is priceless...definitely light n' strong...well there could also be other chassis details also worthy of the catch...

  6. Look at the position of the shifter in relation to the “steering axle”

  8. I’m drawn to a stuff like this because this type of stuff is what I grew up swing.
I didn’t know what the Spencer roadster or what I guess most here call a hot rod was until my early 20s.
Crude cut downs, circle track rejects, pieced together equipment .........
The first hot rod I remember seeing was as an early teen. A red model A coup cruising the local fast food joint.
The funny part is the owner later became my father-in- law

Jimmy B posted a scanned Vintage Hotrod Annual yesterday and there are some of those vintage go fast tricks in Hotrod shared in the huge array of material not to mention many Hotrods I have shared over the years here...

It's certainly part of the big picture and money was understandably scarce so they used what they had as best they could...

  10. Just glancing, this ride looks genuine. The newest parts seem to be the seats and tires
The body slowly whittled down over time. Probably ended up a field car.

I suspect these Racers had mechanics that hammered this stuff over and over to keep it in the field...I can imagine many accidents weren't truly accidents but just something that give under load...These guys and gals had fun but there was always the unknown...but crude as they may be many delivered the goods till they were moved on to field duty...I don't doubt this wasn't a real decent car in the beginning...perhaps as early as the late 40s early 50s...these were old cars disposed of and cheaper by the dozen...

In racing that isn't unusual I believe and since its a unusual application they may have had no other choice...

It's definitely a closed car cowl with the A posts notched out (perhaps to clear the roll bar if the cowl was positioned aft a few additional inches?). Roadster cowl is rounded/rolled over and doesn't have the lower windshield opening notched in.
Agree the cowl metal is pretty solid. I'd be going backwards hoping to find the rest of a cast off 34 Coupe or Sedan body behind a barn or in a scrap pile...

  28. That has got to be one of the most interesting things you’ve ever come across @anthony myrick . It’ll be an adventure finding the history of the car.
