...here's one more I did, @animal8324 if any of these don't sit well with you let me know, I will remove them...;)

It truly is a Monster of a machine...

Do you ever envision it with a period applicable body? I suspect being a 999 inspired that would be not but I'm curious...

You know you can put a stationary sprocket welded to the frame and take one chain off the wheel and put it over the stationary sprocket, forcing the power through the differential gears and double your speed!

This was actually done in the old days, two chains on a loaded truck, driving slow. Then unload the truck, break the chain, drape it over the stationary sprocket and drive fast back to get a load , then hook up the two chains!

Old technology! Chain drive overdrive! :D

@animal8324, many here just keep moving forward and onto the next adventure...getting more from the build than the open road...I hope you got some miles and smiles out of it at a minimum...

Congratulations on the Milestone of getting it to a turnkey Beast of a machine and thanks for sharing the journey...anything coming down the road of the distant past?...

I would sell it but it would be a presale for the completed vehicle as I want to build it.

Well owning a buisness, being a dad, and depression seem to get in the way of the truly important stuff like building this dope ass speedster.
I've gotten the chain drive differential rebuilt but when I went to fit it I wasn't able to. I let it sit so long without the upper bracing for the differential notch that she tightened up like a vigin on prom night so I'm in the process of using a porta power to loosen her up like a gynecologist with a speculum.

We rebuilt one of those for a local firefighter project and it was quite a learning curve. At the time, I considered several options for a vintage speedster. I kept coming back to the engine wanted to be turbocharged; how to do that with a vintage vibel

Jack, I like the cut of your jib! I'm picturing a turbo from a 1970s-era multi-fuel military 6x6, or perhaps from a larger farm tractor.... might take some creative plumbing, but I think it could be done well enough to look period-correct/ish. Something in the 6-10 lbs of boost range, maybe?
(Knowing little to nothing about what kind of boost one of those engines could handle. They certainly look stout enough to take more than that, but I imagine there's at least one sub-system that might soon become the weak point?)

It took a 10 ton porta power but I spread the diff hole out like Ava Divine!
Now on to the passenger side chain drive and rear brakes.

Started working my way from the back to the front for final mock up but need jack stands to get at the rear spring mounts and fittings for the rear brakes so i knocked out a front spring perch. I dig it. 20231126_153923.jpg

Got the other spring perch finished and started on the rear brake lines.
Anyone got recommendations for holding thelines to the frame?

If you are going to try outside the box and not use the various methods that are typical, how about leather straps? Wide belt width, loop around the line and a rivet to hold to frame. Something like this curtain rod strap. If you are in horse country, you might find old tack stuff to remake.

although the front sections look more modern. Whatever you use, make it fit all over.
