The car is still around, if I remember correctly it was at either the the basement Autorama or Sins of Steel show about 10 years ago. There may have been a thread about it at one time.
I’ll have to go though my photos this evening, it’s been a while. From the same website, the Dick Moraniec roadster is sitting in my brother’s garage pretty much the way it was hauled over there from my Dad’s garage.
Looks like a '51 Mercury rear bumper. That actually fits it quite well. The front, maybe not so much, but I still really like the car. Design risks like this would never be taken today, I feel like.
The research resources, of the H.A.M.B. Universe, knows no boundaries, when it comes to unique information retrieval !
From the cowl back I dig it. From the cowl forward, I’m out. But I’d drive it I’d probably add some mid/later 30s front fenders. Toss the bumpers
I've shared it several times in the Homogenized Thread for obvious reasons, one of a kind in so many ways but in my opinion a way classy act in Hotrod/Custom and Race Always enjoy seeing it...

The Top is reminiscent of the one on @Austinrod's Bill Smith Hybrid Roadster https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/bill-smith’s-street-roadster.1151630/
@40ragtopdown, do you think Yug was inspired by this when he had your 40...or maybe it was the other way around...Detroit Autorama...close in region... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...-hot-rod-in-1958.1145669/page-3#post-13092299
I kind of like it, but it doesn't know what it wants to be. Kind of like a mullet, although I'm not sure if the hot rod part is the party or the business...
Stogy I haven't had a chance to get back to talk to yug because of the virus thing. He did have pictures from the Cleveland auto rama when I talked to him back in 2019. His rear fenders had a similar look.
Still haven’t found any later pictures, but still looking. I recall it was on a trailer, it was before some of these vintage photos of it showed up. Still think it was either at the Billetproof or Sins of Steel show up in Davisburg.
@Rolleiflex - I agree with the mullet comment. I think if it had cycle fenders or something to tie in the rear it would be better balanced. That said, this is a great case of someone building what they want, and what they want alone. I like the split windscreen.
I dig the rear bumper, the way it forms around the fenders. But that front end, only a mother could love.
To me it's a Hybrid, half Custom, half Hotrod and many times I've heard it said that Hotrods were about going fast 1st, looks second or not a consideration at all...I've always liked it even though some details are considered off...many Hotrods at that time sported in your face bumpers up front but generally with the ends Bobbed... This fella wasn't shy about racing this mix of Beauty and Beast... I can't wait to see the survivor pics... I've searched quite extensively through numerous Billetproof and Sins of Steel coverage to no avail...I hope someone digs them up...
