    So ive been on the hamb for quite a while, way back in 2005 i started a post about a local guy that had a 1932 ford coupe hot rod he has since 1964 ish. here is a link to the post...

    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/found-a-real-survivor-32-neat-pics-too.52217/

    around 2012 we finally got going on the rebuild and got it on the road, Louie has enjoyed the car for roughly 10 years and had a blast with it again, last year we started talking about the future of the car and he knew i would likely be interested in it so we roughly made some plans and that hed let me know when he was ready to let it go. well mid november Louie called me up, said come on over and get it. i believe he is happy that he got to choose where the car would go and knows i will take care of it.

    So i have been given the honer of being the caretaker of the car, i cant wait to start putting some miles on it. he stole the wheels off of it to put on his survivor 36 ford truck so i have to replicate the original wheels/tires that were on it, i dont mind these but dont like them as much as the others.

    Gordy with the car in the late 50s (Gordy bought the car out of south saint paul mn in roughly 1954-1955, it was already chopped, the bought it with out a motor, story was it had a olds or stude in it) Gordy sold it to Louie roughly 1962-64 neither can remember

    @titus...milestones...I remember you telling me about this and the time has come...very happy for you...

    Seems there are several period looks it wore over the years...any plans moving forward...why the distance between the rear bumper...rear mount spare?

    High Fives to Louie for passing you the torch...;)

    The Hamb never fails to deliver the goods...

  12. The best part is how you invested yourself and got involved with the resurrection. Before you knew owning the car was a sure thing. Great story, enjoy the '32!

    @titus

    As others have said, great story and great car!

    A minor thing, but I am confused by ‘Louie’ and ‘Gordy’…..one person with two names or two different people and which is who…:confused: ? :)

    Some interesting coincidences in this story that brings back memories. In 1956 I was 12 and already a ‘car nut’ having discovered Hot Rod magazine at the drug store newsrack. Down the road from our family home was a 1932 Ford 5 window, model B 4 banger sitting in an orchard. I asked the neighbor about it. Belonged to his relative. At my request he inquired and the relative said he would sell it for $50. Well, I was thrilled! But in 1956 $50 was a lot of money for a 12 yr old. But I was hopeful I could earn the money!

    Nevertheless, I was so thrilled about ‘my deal’, I stupidly told another neighbor kid what was in the works. He told his Dad about it, his Dad bought the coupe, pulled the rear end out to make a utility trailer and the coupe sat next door, in plain view, and tormented me for three years until we moved away in 1959.

    In 1962 I enlisted in the Navy. There I learned the motto “loose lips sink ships”….too late :(

    Wow, fantastic! Good karma comes round and tags you Titus.
    Good to see the owner proactively made plans for the special car-something we all need to do!

    I know survivor preservation is the key here but with that healthy chop, I'd have a hard time not lowering the car 2"...
