Bought these from a well known source and am wondering am I being a bit OCD concerning them not being a match set? BTW , the sorta grainy look is dew settled on them after I set them under a shed overnight , they are actually quite clean.
They look like a matched set to me, not sure what your hang ups are. All of the threaded bosses are where they need to be for the oil filter cannister and ignition coil. I'm guessing that's the problem. One coolant hole is for the temp senders and the additional one is for the heater. If you want symmetry go with earlier heads and do the needed mods to bolt them to the late block.
I didn’t mean to sound like I actually know about them, but it was what I noticed @tubman might know? For sure if posted on the FordBarn they would as well.
Here's some EAB head info from Fordbarn. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=307799&highlight=eab+ford+heads
Well, one has holes for the oil filter and they are left and right so casting numbers are bound to be different.
I've been curious about that as well. Why are some EAB heads stamped with just EAB in the center and others are stamped EAB followed by a string of numbers below the plug hole?
It will haunt you forever....You'll have nightmares about EAB on one head and EAB6049B on the other. Why torture yourself? This is where I can help. Send them to me and I will properly dispose of them, so no one else will ever have to go through this trauma. The cost of shipping them to me is a small price to pay for a lifetime of comfy, sleep filled nights. Remember, I'm here for you.
I just wish some of you guys would know the difference between numbers and letters that are actually stamped and ones that are cast. Like on these heads. They are not 'stamped.'
Do you really have to ask the question? I wouldn't let anyone who couldn't tell the difference between stamped and cast numbers within 100 feet of anything I owned.
