Somehow, this thread has become toy car heavy - not that there is anything wrong with that! Let’s kick it in a different direction. Picked up this hand painted tin sign the other day. It is double sided, and dates to the late teens/early twenties. I need to make a new wood frame for it, so there is my winter project.
You are one of the most amazing HAMBER'S I know. Thanks for sharing everything about you and you lover affairs! If I could visit you for a month it wouldn't be long enough!
I’ll add a cylindrical shape again, this was among some of my stuff from college days that got relegated to the shed at the farm. Cold enough today for snowmobiling, but no snow, I’m not complaining. It sounds like there is a single coin in this can, but I don’t think I will cut it open- yet.

I saw these tin Planters peanut cans today. I remembered we were talking about them a page or so back, and saying I probably had some. So now I want some peanuts. lol
Bought this at an on line auction, picked it up yesterday. Sticker said it was wyandotte, it is pressed tin with wooden wheels . There are relief cuts on all of the top four corners. The rear door opens, now I need a roadster or three window to pull it. I like it.
I also got this one- dual control driver training car, windup car by Marx with two steering wheels. It would appear that the car was customized into a roadster. The underside of these cars a amazingly detailed.
Here is a front image- bullet nose more Ford like than Studebakeresk. It is sporting white walls and yellow pinstripes,

Turns out I do have something tin. I will be 64 in a few months, but my mother thought I should still get an Easter present??? Her and my dad found this at a local flea market. Really not sure the date is correct. Gene.
Gene, Love that little tin Phaeton. It may not be one of the rearest made in Japan tin toys. But it is my favorite. My grandad gave me mine in the early 60s so it's priceless to me. Thank's for sharing! Ron......
These were made in the late '50s-early '60s by Shioji Japan, which later became "SSS International". They came in 2 versions...the Phaeton was sold as "Old-Timer Touring Car" and the Sedan was sold as "Classical Automobile Limousine". They are believed to be 1925 Studebakers...but that's never been substantiated.
THANK's for the great Info Jack. Now I know what those little holes are for at the bottom of the top bows. I'll pick up old beaters at the swap meets for parts, or to play with. I have the nicer one in my showcase. I think I posted this pic. on the bird house thread. Yeah, we have one those. lol .
Over the last couple of years I've posted about 200 of my Japan Tin toys here on "Vintage Tin"...this will be my last post. Last month, I finalized arrangements to donate my entire (500+) Japan Tin collection to a (rather famous) Mid-West Museum. Cerainly NOT a selfless gesture...as the charitable tax deductions spread over the next 5 years are more bennificial to us at this point, than the actual value of the collection. As we all "age-out", this direction may be one feaseable way to down size your collections as well, especially if you don't have someone to "leave" it to. I picked this pair of bonneville inspired fordors today. They would look better with big n littles. Stamped made in Japan on the bottom. I don’t know if they are delicate or just cheap, but they do it for me.
