Made up linkage for the clutch pedal to master. And made a paper template for the radiator fan shroud.

  7. Parts should arrive tomorrow . Time to tear down, check engine, run the valve adjustment, check blower , reseal valve covers, replace thermostat housing and polish. Reseal water pump, upgrade trans mount, new spark plugs, change rear diff oil, polish everything and more polishing. Check and inspect more stuff, this will go on and on all winter just like every winter. Spring is coming, believe it or not.:) Oh yea, I am looking for a BIGGER blower.;)

  8. Pardon my curiosity @mad mikey , but how goes the healing process?

  9. Thanks so much for asking. I am just fine and ready for, hopefully a better year, for all of us. Happy New Year friend.:)

  10. Oh I forgot, got the upgraded trans mount installed and did some cleaning-polishing underneath .;)

Put the newly-balanced driveshaft in. I had a local machine shop shorten it for me, but never had it balanced; I have about 2,200 miles on the car. Probably have to wait for next spring to see how much nicer it drives now.

  15. I gutted the engine compartment & pressure washed it preparing to repaint the inner structure as it is supposed to be body color. Removed the grill, bezels & surround to be sent out for re-chroming. I need to get the steering box out so I can send it out to be rebuilt. Lares has no cores to do one for me ahead of time.

    God Bless

Might get a little more motivation to work on it this winter IMG_20211231_143436632_HDR.jpg IMG_20211227_171112210.jpg

  17. Started, and almost finished, my radio replacement. The more I dug, the bigger the hole. Replaced the instrument lights with LED's and also removed the CD changer.

In keeping this truck with a "as found in the woods " appearance I have cleaned up and sanded down all the peeling chrome on the YANKEE brand turn signal lenses and have those re-installed. Also replicated a mirror stand for the drivers side to match the one on the front fender. These are some ugly ass mirrors but they were what was on this truck, probably from the start as there are no other mounts or holes. But I do have a nice pair of doors with matching factory mounts so at some point those doors may get swapped out. Right now I just want to get this thing on the road and the doors do not help reach that goal. I also got the instrument cluster back in place ( none of it is hooked up ) Over look that shitty China air cleaner it is temporary !

Finished restoring the stock speedo and gauge assys, replaced the tank sender to match the 30 ohm stock one, rigged the horn with a button (need to replace the shorted upper mast bearing/contact).

  22. Kinda slacking it for a while; getting cataracts fixed. Finished up, primed, and undercoated all the fender braces/gravel shields for our '47. Made some "staples" out of safety wire to hold the rubber seals (good for poking fingers too) to left rear piece. Heated and bent a piece of ABS to make a heater hose cover for under the dash; picture looks goofy; but the radius is even end to end. Stripped the remaining paint off the diecast dash trim and cleaned and primed it. Made up some hand brake cable tubes for another job.

John was up at the shop working on his truck project; trying to get his poorly aligned throttle cable to work. Of course I had to point out that his parking lights came on when started the engine, checked and tail and dash lights came on too. I thought it was funny; he didn't. Figured out if we pulled the dash light fuse they went out. Guess I'll have to do a little sleuthing on how this came about; acts like it is a ground problem; but the fuse deal throws that a little.

Fabbed up a tilting table for the mill so I can do machine work on old cast iron sbc heads like cutting em down for screw in studs and guide plates + machining them for pc seals. The prices at my local shop have forced me to do this myself as I cant fathom spending $1000 on an old set of fuelies for a nostalgia type build.

Didn't get this done today, but this is how far I got. ;) I've been piecing together a FED for a few weeks as my seemingly hectic retirement schedule permits. Other than the cage, the chassis is mostly fitted and tack welded. It will be 145" wheelbase with a mild SBC and a full length Powerglide. Having fun bracket racing is the goal and hope it to be a 6.80 to 7.00 car in the 1/8 Mi.

FWIW.....I'm the ruggedly handsome gentleman shamelessly posing in the photo. :D

  28. Put some Ford Wimbeldon white on the die cast dash trim for out '47. Decided the best place to put it so I didn't damage it was on the car, so I drove up to the shop and installed it.

I hadn't put the column in since I needed the room to access the trim screws, once trim was in place, stuck the column in too. Even remembered to put the keyway down.

Wanted to put the speaker grille and vertical trim on too; but I didn't think to bring them.

  29. My buddy has one of those in the woods behind his place up north. Gave it to me at one time; but later (maybe 25-30 years) changed his mind and decided it needed to stay out in the woods. P9060022.JPG P9060025.JPG studeleftside.JPG
