  3. I first met Dave at the 2011 Palo Alto Concours D'Elegance where I took these iPhone snapshots of the Morris Bros. / SO-CAL SPEED SHOP TEAM '31 Roadster that he found and restored circa 2010:

Dave was a super nice guy ... we talked about the history of the car ... and about some Hot Rodder friends we have common.

In the past 10 years, I've run into him at other car events ... and always enjoyed talking Hot Rods with him.

    RIP Dave :(

  4. I don't think Dave was a "HAMBer" ... but he's friends with quite a few ... including (but not limited to) the following:
I'm hoping some of these HAMBers will be able to share their thoughts and/or stories about Dave ...

Dave was a great guy and a life-long hot rodder. If you ever even met him once, you would remember and he would remember you. Just a real genuine person. He will be missed.

An amazingly kind and humble guy, Dave Tanimura was always one to greet you with a smile, ask how you were doing, etc. Just a great friend to his car club and someone that never needed the spotlight, despite having really cool cars. Rest in Peace, Dave, and God Bless. You were a good man!

Dave was always one of my favorite people to run into. Always had that big 'Ol smile and a laugh. I will miss seeing you and hearing your voice. Godspeed Dave, May You Rest In Peace.

RIP. Way to young. A small group of friends and I do our best to make it to the CHRR every year. At the 2015 event we got to meet Dave while admiring the 55, super fun and enthusiastic guy to talk to! Condolences to family and friends.

  25. I met Dave around 2003 at the unofficial after party for Brizio's open house. I had just got into hot rods and many of the guys I started getting to know were ripping burnouts down the alley in between Sanderson Headers and the body shop next to Brizio's. Dave had a bit of trouble keeping his car straight so everyone there helped by holding the ass end steady so it wouldn't drift into the buildings while he power braked it. We crossed paths so many times since then, and the only thing we ever disagreed about was running flatheads, he was in the business of going fast, the So Cal roadster only had one because of the history, all of the other cars in his fleet were built to go from A to B in the shortest time possible. He was a down to earth man, no ego, I never heard him raise his voice to anyone, he was just there for a good time. At worst you might get a sarcastic jab, but who doesn't do that with friends? The loss is huge and has really rippled through the Bay since the news broke. There will be services once the public health restrictions ease up.

Dave was a great friend for 20+years. Seemed like everyone knew him. We never failed to have great conversations. Truly a gearhead that everyone admired. Covid sucks!!
