My deal on the Nervine Coupe fell through when I went to pick it up.... but a couple weeks later I came across this 5w Coupe body a friend had hidden in his shop. It was original an dirt track car from my hometown, and after I saw it I knew it had to come back home to muskogee with me. We made a deal the day before TROG, and snagged it when we got back from the trip! He gave me a bunch of extra parts I'll need to get it put together. Keeping the paint as is.

Check out the video I put together of it...

Outstanding! I remember that car on Thunderbird race track, back in the sixties, maybe the early seventies!

Ain’t no SBC going in there! It had a Y-block in it when I remember it racing! But Chad has other plans…..I will let him tell you!

what's that supposed to mean? I never said it was getting one and it never had one in it. It's getting a 59a with a 2x2 tattecrsfield and 2 97s.

Unless that car originally raced with a flathead, I vote for a "Y"-block, like in all of the pictures.

And I'm a real flathead fan.

Looks good for an old circle tracker! Most I've found are beat to pieces or hacked all to hell.

  9. Very cool Chad! Congrats!

A great car, but the original pictures from it's glory days are priceless. What I wouldn't give for even one pic of some of my cars back in their prime.

If you look real close to the #28 car in the pics, you will see beer cans on the carburetors! The cut the back side out of them to let air in and keep the dirt out! Okie high tech…..back in the day!

Congrats @chaddilac...I look forward to your journey with it...there's almost enough of these that have been brought back to stage a vintage throwback race at an applicable track someday...

The body on that on as alluded is amazingly straight...for the rough an tumble business it was...

Agreed...I was thinking he was probably a good driver...and had a great handle on making it deliver the goods...

Or, always in the back. When I was a kid and went to the dirt track races around the Twin Cities, The cars in the front of the pack always looked worse than those in the rear. All of the cosmetically well done cars were in the back of the pack. I believe there were actually guys who did it that way on purpose.

Do you have any history? How did it fare back in the day? Mine was Minnesota State Stock car champion in 1966 and I have one picture of it literally rolled into a ball of sheet metal.

ATTA BOY- Flat head power... Must have been a front runner to be in such good shape! Lucky for you it missed the big one back then! Coincidence I think not. Will be following.

It was a contender, I remember it being competitive! I asked a friend of mine ,who used to own T-bird, but he couldn’t remember the driver either! Boys , this car raced here around fifty years ago! Our memories are fading! I will ask , around about it!

Chad, has already asked locally and got info! I put it out there again, for more info!

Chad, hope you don’t mind me chiming in here. I did get to watch this car, as a kid, racing here.

thanks fellas... I'm keeping the paint but the rest will be a a 40s type build. After dealing with trying to put a 292 car motor in a 55f100 I have no desire for any ford engine after the flathead, they're all more complicated than they needed to be.

I agree, everything I've ever found was cut up and raced until it was worthless junk
