  1. Well here is another project update. Got a few parts to make progress. Got new stake pockets for all 4 corners, got the rear ones on and now wrapping up the rear crossmember to get the tail gate hinges back on. Also got the front boxing plates to now fit and weld in.

  2. Well had a slight change of plans this weekend. I stumbled across a estate sale that had some car stuff listed and CJ and I ended up dragging home the complete 58 Impala 348. Its a factory 250hp motor, but it spins free and had everything plugged up to keep critters out. So the 265 and 3 speed are gonna be saved for another project and this 348 and a th350 we have on the shelf are gonna go in.

  3. After getting the 348 home, had to get it on the hoist and set it between the frame rails to see what firewall mods are going to be needed to slide it back far enough to clear. We have a pretty good idea on what we are going to do and preserve the look of the stock firewall, but its gonna be a neat looking truck with a W motor in it.

  5. Well slowly chipping away on the 33, been doing alot of fitting of the 348. The frame boxing plates are in and the motor mounts are welded in as well. Got the firewall cut now and working on the trans mount and putting the firewall back together with the new recess added. Trying to keep as much of the original firewall as possible. Once the trans mount is done and the rough pieces made for the firewall then it will be time to tear the motor down and get to rebuilding it.

  6. Some updates on the 33. Firewall is pretty well in place. recessed the minimum amount we could to save as much of the original firewall as we could. Now the 348 is snuggly fitting into the new firewall with just enough room to pull the distributor if needed.

Scored a 6x2 intake on ebay so thats whats going to on the motor. Once the mounts were in we slid the motor in and had to sit the intake down and place so old carbs we had laying around to see how its gonna look and I dont think there is a motor 6x2's dont look good on, lol.

The pulled the motor our and finally tore it apart to see if we scored a winner or a boat anchor and jackpot! Motor was super clean, pistons were just caked with carbon buildup but all the lifters looked good. Pulled a rod cap and a main, both had standard bearings so the crank has never been turned and looked good, no grooves. Block has never been bored as well. scraped off some of the carbon and could not find a single stamping to indicate an bigger piston, also very little ridge in the cylinders so this thing is a super base to rebuild. Really happy about that and not having to go look for another block.

  7. Well here is an update on where the pickup is at. Its now a full frame off. The cab and bed are now off and the frame is pretty well stripped of everything so now onto cleaning up the frame and doing finish welding on the the front boxing plates, motor mounts, vega box mount and hair pin mounts. The move onto getting the cab stripped down.

  8. Little updated, tore the rear end apart to check the gears. Also getting closer to wrapping up the 6x2's for the 348. 152027005_5807602695920103_6918479637359456056_n.jpg 153134205_5807602719253434_2297831109555455655_n.jpg

  9. Make some progress on the 33, but its been slow as we have had my C10 apart doing some upgrades for this summer show season, but the weather got nice enough to paint the frame and rear end, now can slowly start putting it back together.

I hadn't seen this thread until this morning. Loving it! I like the blue carb bases, I knew from that picture what was to follow.

  16. the carb bases or the color of pretty much everything else in the garage, kind of hints to the color of the truck, lol. We kind of have a pattern at this point.

  17. Been awhile since I posted about this truck. It did the turn of being a bigger nightmare than we thought. Had the cab blasted and it was just full of rust covered in bondo, so the truck has become a flipper. We still fixed all the metal properly, but just so disgusted with the work it needed that it will be going down the road. Picked up a small block to stuff in it and get it down the road. but here are some recent pictures. The truck has been painted currently reassembling. Dealing with part shortages now with most places as its going back together.

Still a great looking p/u, you may change your mind once it's together!

  19. nope, already on the hunt for its replacement. Got two different big blocks sitting on the floor that we need to find homes for, lol. Got the 348 still and also picked up a 396. Both my grandpa and I are both on a kick of wanting to build a coupe

  20. Been awhile since updated. Truck has been going together but been having to fight with the parts shortage to get things done. Finally got a front end as that was a big hold up on making progress. Now we can really get rolling on knocking items off the list and hopefully have this truck ready to put on the market late spring this year.
