With me the question to sell or not is very difficult. For a long while there I thought life was too short to hold. As I am now in my 60s , if I do sell I try an find someone who really loves the car before letting it roll. Later on I may hold again, and just look at them.

  9. I've had my Roadster for 30 years, same paint, one interior change, wheel and tire change, and carburetor change.
Had my 58 Porsche 40 years, 66 Chevy big block wagon 30 years, two off topic early VW Bugs over 30 years, 62 Mini 25 years, an off topic truck I bought new in 88. I tend to keep things.

I built my Coupe 33 years ago, then completely disassembled it in 2000 and totally redesigned it, then in 2020 I completely disassembled it and did yet another total redesign. Over these years I have drove the car over 75,000 miles and still love it and drive it all the time at age 65.

3B6C9040-8088-4DB3-A28C-5B8D18182776.jpeg A few of the 32’s I’ve owned. The lower left was the first. Bought a full fendered complete car. Tore it apart and built it my way. Owned for 20 years. Upper right was the next one. Lower left the third one. A great Red Neck body. Upper left is current one. All steel, Ford 351W, C4, 8”, heat and air. In between I had Corvettes. Had a 2021 on order when I found the latest 32. Figured it would be more fun and so far it has.

  12. I bought my rambler wagon on July 27th, 1991 at the age of thirteen. It cost of $650 of my corn detassling money I made that summer. Still drive it weekly. So about 3 quarters of my life ownership. 20210928_173900.jpg

I've had my '34 Plymouth since 1974 (48 years). Drove it as bought for a year & tore it down to make it better. Put it back on the street. Re-painted it in the mid-80's with lacquer. In the late '90's I upgraded the front suspension from a Corvair to Fatman MII. In 2019 I did a refresh of suspension bushings, brakes, fluids, etc after it had been parked since 1996 after I broke and fixed the frame in a cross-country road trip. The car is part of the family. Bought it in 81, got it running and driving for 1983's car show season. Continued customizing it, chopping it in 84, IROC blue paint in 86, Candy Blue in 88 (IIRC). Put 140K miles on it, now resting waiting for a complete rebuild. 55_Olds 001.jpg 55_Olds 010.jpg 55_Olds 021.jpg 55_Olds 025_crop.jpg 55_Olds 005 (2).jpg 55_Olds 010 (2)_w.jpg

My dad bought his 1936 Ford Cabriolet in 1957 and started working on his custom dream car. He worked on it for the next 34 years but finally gave up on it in 1991 as old age, bad health and no money caught up to him. I took the car out of storage in 2005 and my brother and I painted it and got it running for him. In 2009 he signed the title over to me. The car has been in our family for 65 years now and when I kick off my son will get it.

  25. 2021 was the 40th anniversary year of ownership for my '63 Tbird hardtop and '55 Fairlane Victoria, with no plans to let them go anytime soon. The picture is from 2011 and nothing has changed since then (other than adding a '63 T-bird Sports Roadster in 2016). My '40 Ford Tudor's been with me since 1979, but it's still inoperable and in the same pile of baskets as when I bought it, but at least now it's under cover, patiently waiting its turn as a 'retirement' project (and sadly that's what I called it in '79).

  27. I’ve had my avatar for 35 years now and in that time it’s been through two rebuilds ( both because of accidents) and a slight adjustment to the color. Would I change anything I could start over? No. Would I ever sell it? Just as soon as hell freezes over ( read that: No)

I kept my first baby 62 years now.
That I built for high school in 1959 got it running{ now 62 years back}.
But colleted parts for just over 2 years before putting together,so not counting those 2+ years of just parts,!,
1928A roadster ,Bob Tailed hot rod.
I like how I did it to start with,so very few updates.*
Added chrome headers*vs just BBQ home made, went too alum radieator* an went to alt.*,the rest is same*,color an all.
A few def. carb combo over time for fun, started out with 2x4s,some crazy offered too much $ for my 2x4s,so did a 4bbl,an then built my self a 4x2s home made log in take< out of a cut up driveshaft, sold that and back to 4bbl,years latter made another 4x2 same way. Still running that one!

Guess I'm on the low end of ownership, only since 2013. But I had a 78 pickup I bought new I held on to for about 17 years, and a 84 pickup I bought used and kept about the same amount of time. Doubt I'll ever get rid of the 47 Lincoln, but you never know. Somebody comes along with enough money and it might be gone. Not really expecting that, though.

I’ve owned this since 1970. My father bought this new in 1948 from Cochran Chevrolet in Bridgeport, CT.
