It's a gift to have someone who cares enough about you to chew on your butt. Be a gift. Sorry for your loss.

  15. Even knowing this was coming it still sucks.

I was proud to run the same plaque, honoured that he tolerated my dumb questions and happy to have been able to call him a friend. He would give me shit and advice in the same sentence, usually with a smile on his face.

Cheers Handsome Dave, I’ll miss ya.

Sad to hear he's gone, I always got a chuckle out of his choice of "Dirty Old Man" name, and his somewhat inscrutable Avatar.

He will definitely be missed. I can hear him yell "Polack" as I write this. I wish I could hear more stories about the old days. I'm only 46 so having the honor to hear his stories and talk to him about how it really was back in the day was a treat. He lived it and breathed it. He was always respectful to everyone no matter how grumpy he was. He was a true gentleman.....a gentleman with incredibly long balls.

    Love you bud.

This seems appropriate here. I saved this a long time ago and tweaked it a little. Not sure now where I got it or who wrote it but credit to the author.
    RIP Dave.

    A Hot Rodder's Prayer

When hot rod friends pass away,
it's difficult sometimes knowing what to say.
You can offer your condolences and help with things to do
but I have a theory I firmly believe is true.
I'm sure that they've passed on to a wonderful place,
where side by side the hot rods race.
Where tires are burnin' and the revs are high
and no, that's not thunder that you hear in the sky.
It's the sound of the hot rods edging up to the line,
in anticipation of getting the green light.
Where dream quarter miles are run in less than seven,
I know and believe they've gone to hot rod heaven.

Did not know @dirty old man personally, but did enjoy what he posted. The word that comes to my mind to describe him is "legitimate"............Godspeed.

    We shared many story's
Together related to hot rods. I'll miss having him stopping by. RIP big Dave
You were a true Rodder and will be missed by many..

Rest In Peace, Dave. I think we always enjoyed his commentary because he would tell it how it was. I've always had a great appreciation for those that are willing to do that. He was a mainstay here on the HAMB and will be missed by many!

Never met Dave in person, but had a 3year post or PM ongoing relationship. We'd go back and forth about our age related issues or how did you do this and how did I do that. Even played bird dog for him on an Indiana machine shop tool purchase. I found out Dave was ill from a conversation with my nephew Jay Bauch (a fellow Sock F$#ker member and buddy of Dave's). I tried P.M.ing Dave but no luck. I'm so sorry to hear about Daves passing , He was a truly good guy. Rest In Peace Dave Bill Rinaldi
