This has been sitting in front of a antique shop in Independence for over a year. Body looks pretty good but wood rot across the top.
Dang solid base...it seems...as said yeah nice Hotrod material...probably a real roomy interior for the taller crowd...10K not bad...
If you blow up the picture you can see the filler opening. That said there is a missing fuel cap so the tank is probably toast along with the radiator missing the cap. Possibly has got water in it and broken if ever froze.
Are you looking to purchase? Does it run? Looks like an older resto. Paint and filler tend to hide a lot of issues. I'd be checking down low and underneath for hidden rot, shoddy bodywork, etc. With that said $10k isn't horrible for a complete 90 year old car! I remember at the local lumber yard, the owner had a '29 Durant coupe shoved back in the corner of the yard. It was for sale and he wanted $25 for it. Oh yeah, I was 12 years old then.......I'm 66 now!
Wasn't Durant the guy that started GM? At any rate, my foggy old mind has attached Durant with GM somehow. LOL! Gene
I have a running 29 Durant chassis with cowl. used to terrorize the neighborhood with it, but now ...anyone need one? I read years ago, in the end Billy Durant was broke, and Walter Chrysler supported him until his death
And, yes Gene, Billy had the idea to merge a bunch of companys together to form General Motors. Short story, he was a jerk, they forced him out of leadership at some point, and he bragged he would be back. With his high falutin contacts like , Duponts, Rockefellers, etc, he was able to borrow enough money to buy up 51% of the stock, take over again, and fire all those who opposed him. Interesting story when you have time to search it out
