The closest I can tell it is a 1953 Royal, but when I google 1953 Dodge the trim is different. 1952 fenders are rounder. 1954 Taillights are different. Can anyone tell me the exact year and model? This is the only picture I have. It does have the V8 Hemi. Please Help? 1953 Dodge Royal.JPG

What are your plans? Is it a runner? Be a crowd pleaser to see that ragtop motoring along with the hemi.

I second or third '54. My pops bought a '53 dealer demo, that was a six w/ Gyromatic. At the same time my uncle picked up a '54 with a HEMI.

He always went for the extra power, when buying.

I am hopeful to get it bought. I think it would be a runner without to much work. It has set for years right where it is. What would your estimate be of as is value? I have fallen behind on pricing.

If there isn't any rust, I'd say it's probably worth about 8,000. Those aren't the most popular make or model. I could be way off on pricing though as prices across the board seem to have really escalated over the last couple of years.

My thoughts are if you like the car and the price suits you, it shouldn’t matter what it’s called. Does the value of it change significantly between model types? Or year models from the era?

I don’t know, since I can’t find another convertible identical I am trying to determine if it is a rare model or if it’s been customized years ago, etc.

  19. I'm just amazed that for once it really is a Dodge.:D;)

I would think the rag-tops are relatively rare. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen one.

I’d suggest looking at price guides. Not so much for value, but for pricing differences. Many say something like “add XX$ or XX% for XX”. Somewhat pricing out options in todays world based on what was available when new.
Is it listed as “Make Offer” or a price and OBO?

It’s not listed anywhere. It belongs to a family friend who has been very ill. I just heard through family he wants to sell it. The picture I posted I took when I visited him in 2013

maybe the difference in the trim is if the car has 2 tone paint or not

Okay, now things are getting clearer:).
#1. Do you really want the car, and if so is it for a keeper?
#2 did you step in it and say to them/him you’d see what they go for?
#3 if neither of the above applies, just ask them/him what they would be comfortable with $-wise.
It’s been said on here and other sites, you can’t be the buyer and the seller, but with old friends things get complicated (IMO). You don’t want to over pay, and you surely don’t want to take advantage.
Best of luck, hope things work out.

  26. Can’t help a whole bunch but my ‘64 Chrysler looked about the same condition, sat for 25-30 years, I bought it for $5000 Canadian. I would think that’s a fair price for the car you have pictured as well.

Is that a continental kit on the back? That ups it a little bit for me.
